One Man Drinking Games

It was now April, and it had been roughly 4 months since Jack and I had started dating. The snow had long since been melted away off the streets of Baltimore, and the weather returned to warm temperatures for the first time in months. Not much had happened for our little group. We were all perfectly happy with our lives, and it was a nice feeling for once.

One late Saturday afternoon, Jack called me up, sounding nervous and yet excited. “Nora, you need to spend the night tonight.”

“Well hello to you too,” I joked. “I haven’t spent the night in so long, why do I have to all of a sudden?”

He hesitated a second before speaking. “Well, it’s just...Mom and Dad are taking a weekend away, Joe is on a road trip with his buddies, and May is staying with a friend, so I’m all alone here.”

“I’ll see what I can do. I’ll just tell my mom I’m spending the night at Luna’s,” I said with a shrug.

“And, I mean, we’ll be alone so...um...” he stuttered.

I sighed. “Jack, you have to use your words.”

“My mom said we should do it when nobody’s home, didn’t she?” he blurted out.

I was confused for a second before I finally recalled a moment a few months back in which Jack’s Mom had talked to us about sex. “Oh,” I replied. “You mean the it.”

“I mean, we don’t have to. The last thing I want to do is pressure you. We can just hang out and watch movies or something,” he commented.

A bright red blush crept across my face. “We’ll talk about it when I get there, okay? I’ll be there soon.”

“Alright. See you soon,” he responded, and we hung up. I quickly began to assemble an overnight bag, my thoughts swimming wildly. Were Jack and I really ready for this? I mean, it was a pretty big step to be taking.

I quickly asked my mom if I could spend the night at Luna’s, which was my typical front, and she accepted it, so I began heading to Jack’s house. Timidly, I got out my cell phone and called my best friend, only partially to have her keep my alibi intact.

“Hey,” she greeted. “What’s up?”

“I’m spending the night as Jack’s, so I need you to keep my cover, if you don’t mind,” I mentioned. “Also, I have a question.”

“Of course I’ll cover for you. Anyway, what’s the question?” she wondered.

“Okay, don’t freak out on me, but, have you and Alex had sex yet?” I asked quickly. I immediately regretted asking it. She was going to say no, and then I would have to tell her that I was possibly going to have sex with Jack and feel like a whore. Dammit.

She paused, letting out a sigh. “Yes. Why are you asking?”

I felt relieved. “It’s just...Jack and I have been thinking about it and I don’t know what to do. I want to, but I don’t know if we’re ready or anything.”

“If you both want it and you both love each other, then I say go for it. Alex and I have only done it a few times, but it’s honestly been nice, because I knew it was with someone I loved,” she explained.

“Okay,” I said. “Thank you. You’re definitely the wise one out of the two of us.”

She laughed. “I wouldn’t be so sure about that. Oh, and remember, your first time isn’t actually supposed to hurt. If he uh, touches you enough, it should be wet enough that it won’t cause you any pain.”

“That sounds really gross,” I mentioned.

“Yeah, but I think it pays off in the end,” she replied.
