Sunday 21st September

Dear diary

Strange. Very strange indeed. I'm actually looking forward to school tomorrow. Why, you say? Well imagination, I'm glad you asked. It all started last night when Kylie came storming into my bedroom with a post-it note saying "You're such a faggit" and stuck it on my forehead. I just put it in the bin and carried on reading the book that Keira gave me. Which by the way is a great book so far. I already feel less like a dick. So after about 10 minutes, Kylie came in my room again, but with Wilson this time and they poured life-threatening cold water over my head. I was drenched. Keira was at a friends party but thankfully Mum heard, so she came to see what was going on. A giant smile grew upon my face when I heard the footsteps of Mum hurrying upstairs. I was happy because I knew they'd get told off. Kylie gets away with everything and this was pay-back.

"RICHMOND?!? Why on Earth are you so wet?"

"Kylie and Wilson covered me in freezing cold water!" I stuttered due to the blistering coldness upon my body.

"No, Mum he's lying! Wilson and I came rushing in when we heard water crash in Richmond's room. We were only trying to be the caring siblings that we always are to him."

"Liar! Mum it's all lies! I was just reading the new book that Kiera gave me... woops..."

Kylie broke in.

"...New book? Keira? Why is she talking to you?"

"Look, I've had enough! This childish behaviour needs to stop here. I mean it. Wilson, you're in college now. Be the man I know you can be. Kylie, you're such a bright girl, you're meant to be setting a good example for this family. Richmond, you're a lovely son, just understand that right now is stressful for Wilson and Kylie from all the exams so maybe they just want to goof around sometimes with their great little brother? Get your acts together or we're going to have to talk it through as a whole family. You're father will love that, won't he? Just be happy and remember that I love all of you equally."

"Love you too mum." - Wilson and Kylie

"I love you too mum. I'm sorry."

Everyone left my room except, Kylie.

"Why did Keira give you a book? I told her to never speak to you!"

"For your information Keira and I are friends now and she gave me the book to enjoy when I'm bored."

"Oh shut up, twerp. I'll deal with Keira when she's back, but for now..."

Kylie snatched the book from my hands and threw it out the bedroom window. I wanted to cry. I honestly don't know what I've ever done to upset Kylie. I did some research online a while ago as to why this could be. The only response I got was, 'sibling rivalry, It's very common in families but deep down they care about each other.' I think it's all bullshit to be honest.

I ran downstairs as fast as I could, trying my hardest not to cry. I was worried that I'd find the book in a horrible state and would have to tell Keira that I ruined her present. After about ten minutes of vigorous hunting I found the book stuck in our, rather large, apple tree down the end of the garden. It luckily wasn't damaged too much, but it still had a few scratches over it. I was pretty pissed.

"Hey mum, I'm home! Sorry I'm late, Robbie tried to get off with me again."

"Aha, Robbie is a funny one. How was the party?"

"Yeah it was awesome, Hannah was so wasted though. I had to literally drag her out of the party and into a taxi. She threw up all over the back seat; funniest thing."

"Glad you had a good time. Goodnight, dear."

"'night."

~~~~~
"Keira!"
"Hey, what's up Richmond?"
"Quite a lot actually. Kylie has been really hurtful... yet again."
"Ah. It'll be fine Richmond. Get some sleep and you'll be okay. I'll speak to you tomorrow."
"Yeah okay. That's cool."
"Love you, Rich."
"Love you too.."
I just smiled. The only other female I've said 'I love you' to was mum. Wait, you knew that, because I am you. I'm confusing myself here. I also smiled because no one has ever called me anything other than, Richmond. It feels different to have a nickname, I suppose. I mean if it even is my nickname or Keira was just too drunk to say it properly. Either way I liked it. I might ask people to start calling me, Rich, from this point forward.
Oh and I should probably mention that Kylie and Keira aren't talking to each other since last night. Kylie confronted her about the whole 'Kiera speaking to me and giving me a book thing' and now Kylie just terminated their friendship, so to speak. That's why I'm happy about going to school tomorrow. Keira promised she'd let me hang out with her and her friends at lunchtimes. I'm so excited it's kinda scary. I've never hung out with anyone above my own age, so it'll be a great new experience for me. We could dive into the world of intellectual debates about politics, have discussions on which indie band deserves more recognition, listen to each other rant about teachers. It's going to be so much fun. Well, for me anyway. Better get to sleep now. It's been a long day.
Love, Rich x
