The moon reflected in the turquoise pool, making the trees gleam around it. The forest was musky and dull, though the moon was a bright blue and huge. The trees were no taller than a human shed and the dirt was smooth but it promised that many paws had stepped on it for centuries. The sky glowed a dark, sapphire and the leaves swayed from side-to-side in the gentle breeze. Black shadows echoed through the forest and the sound of soft paw-steps thrummed softly against the earth. At first the place seemed frozen but soon a cat stepped out, crunching old leaves that had fallen. The cat was a lithe, tan coated she-cat with dull, green eyes. She walked towards the pool and stared down at it, her face reflecting in its water. Her whiskers twitched with thought as she gazed at it with her emerald eyes and she whispered;
"It is time."
As she said her words, a bush rustled from where she had appeared and the she-cat turned her body to see a dark, Amber Tom with hazel eyes pad out.
"What is this you speak of, Leaf?" He meowed, his deep voice streaming through the gloomy forest.
Leaf blinked slowly,
"I speak of many things, Soil." She replied calmly, her gaze steadily meeting his brown eyes.
Soil took a step forward, his Amber paws setting on the grass lightly, "I know that; But what do you speak of now?" He asked more seriously. Leaf twitched her muzzle back towards the pool and gently lapped at its refreshing taste. Soil waited patiently for her reply and he seated himself among the earth-his long tail wrapping over his paws. Leaf took her mouth away from the water and licked the droplets from her lips. She then blinked her green eyes and calmly stared up at the moon, her tan ears perking up. Soil looked up at it with her and they sat there in silence for a moment before the she-cat quietly whispered;
"You ask what I speak of, am I right Soil?"
"Yes."
"Well I speak of a time. I speak of a cat. I speak of the world. I speak of many things," Leaf meowed, turning to stare into his Hazel gaze;
"I speak of a prophecy."
Soil blinked, shifting closer. He strained his ears so he could hear her dark words,
"Eight planets will thrive together and make the world collide into peace."
BACK IN LIFE
A small, brown kit wriggled deeper into his mothers fur as the ruby-red sun crept over the faint outline of a misty mountain. Flowing creeks could be heard in the distance and the sound of croaking frogs still clung in the wind. Large, Amber trees circled the kit and the lonely queen that seemed to go on for ever. The queen felt as though predators eyes peaked out from the shadows and she wrapped her tail protectedly around her only-kit.
She was a light blue; more like a silver tabby. Her eyes were emerald-filled with ghostly memories and pure experience. Her fur was thick and bushy-leaves stuck on her as though she hadn't bothered to groom in days.
Her kit was different from her; a dark chocolate, same thickness and mystical green eyes but the tom-kit looked sleek and plump-whilst on the other hand,
The queen looked ragged and thin, haunted and scared, protective and helpless.
Whispers echoed through the musky forest but nothing could understand the strange language.
The trees seemed to get bigger and bigger with every glance the she-cat sneaked.
The bushes rustled now and then, frightening her-predicting a hungry fox or badger would lumber out.
The silver tabby sighed with relief as an old rabbit jumped out-sniffing the air thoughtfully.
She, instincts calling, swiftly slipped away from her kit.
I'll be quick, young one.
She vowed silently.
As the queen stalked towards the prey, her paws smooth and quiet, the rabbit quickly spotted her and turned to flash away.
The silver she-cat, crazy with hunger, made a powerful leap-lifting from the ground. She flew through the thick air before landing on the rabbit and quickly giving it the killing bite.
On her way back, the queen gobbled down the rabbit in swift nibbles before heading back to her kit, her light paws now fizzing with energy for the first time in...moons!
The queen raced through the dark forest, her eyes adjusting to the darkness.
Once she reached the hollow, where she had left her kit, nothing was there.
The silver tabby searched every corner, every edge, every scent.
But nothing could be found, spotted or smelt.
The queen stood in the centre of the hollow, her eyes melting with grief and tears.
He was gone.
But...
How?
