WISDOM DOES NOT FOLLOW AGE
We live in a grim and bleak planet. A planet torn down, and shattered by time. Broken and pierced by the parasites that parade its terrain. We're so stuck, frozen in our own ridiculous mindsets. Thinking the way things are is the way they should be. We are right, and they are wrong. But who is we? Who is they?
We are the people that sit in our chairs, arms crossed, preaching. Preaching that homosexuals choose to be the way they are. That liking the same gender is a habit. That these people, choose to be ridiculed, persecuted. We sit drowning in our own stupidity, uttering words we ourselves do not understand. Homosexuals choose to be shot? Teachers, adults, laws, do not teach us to love the opposite sex. They do not teach children that everyone is gay, everyone is lesbian, and everyone is bisexual.
They are safe-houses. For those innocents being beat, hated, by their own parents. Parents who believe that, 'Because I gave birth to you, because you have my genes, I know for a fact you are not one of those people.'
LGBT rights and and the people who fight for them, are safe-houses for those hiding in the shadows. For those living double sided realities.
Transgenders are trapped inside bodies that do not belong to them and yet we call that a habit. Asexuals are strangers because they aren't attracted to others in a sexual way. Homosexuals are told it is wrong to love someone of the same gender.
'Why?' a child would ask.
'Because it's just not right.'
The innocent would stare up silent, their eyes confused, wondering why their parent, or teacher, or even another mislead child was saying the things they were. 'But why isn't it right?'
'It just isn't!'
We live in a grim and bleak planet. A planet with ideals revolving around ourselves. We are right. They are wrong. You are who everyone else is. You may be unique, but not in that way. Wisdom comes involuntarily with age.
Goddammit! Those are lies!
Hitler was not smarter than a fourteen year old who sits in class wishing they could tell that person just a few desks over they like them. But they linger back, scared of demons that will come after school. Hitler was not smarter than that man or woman married to someone they do not love because our wretched society tells them they are who the rest of the world is. And the rest of the world is them. The rest of the world, is straight.
Wisdom does not follow age. Wisdom grows within a person as that person's understanding of the world grows. Your number of birthday's will not affect how wise you are, not if you are so narrow minded you believe you are right, and they are wrong.
'They impose their rights on others,' a human lacking morals said to me. 'They preach about their sexuality and in turn make children believe it is okay to be anything but heterosexual.'
Did Martin Luther tell the whites that destroyed the lives of 'coloured people' to become black? He gave speeches about his rights. He spoke to the blacks just as much as he spoke to the whites. 'Do not be afraid of who you are,' his words said. 'For you are who you are meant to be. Not what this world of prosecutors makes you out to be. And you. Those who hate us because of what colour our skin is and where we come from. You will one day come to accept us. For we are all the same.'
The slaves were killed, sold, raped, and ridiculed because of what makes them different. What makes them beautiful. We are putting others in the same position today. But it is different for a gay man, or a gay woman, for a male who identifies as female or a female as male, to tell the world they proud of who they are and that fourteen year old child should be too.
The world is grim, and it is bleak.
We spend so much time fighting to win battles against ourselves. We fought for the Jews, for the Blacks, for the Hispanics for the Aboriginals that own the North American lands, and yet there are those that fought against them. Every single day we are fighting. For the right reasons, but for the wrong ones as well.
'Why are they wrong?' we should be asking ourselves. 'What makes them wrong and us right?'
Then maybe we'll get up off our asses and realize that all along, they were right and we weren't.
A/N: I don't know why I was inspired to write this. Maybe it was the fact that I've started reading R. Riordan's new Magnus Chase book and Alex is so cool. You know it's a good book when you're hooked from the start. Just like you know it's a good anime when:
a)character has a gory backstory that makes you cry
b)you laugh in the first five minutes
c)the theme song is funny itself even if you don't speak a word of Japanese
or d)you just feel that air of actionI'm a very picky anime obsessor.
Don't know how I got to anime from being inspired. I guess anime and reading are my inspiration.
That's a good enough end to this Author's Note I think.
