S/O to all of my readers here on Wattpad! You guys have only given me love and support from the start. This story, Access Forbidden, was an experimental story that I began writing a few years back (in my youth) to shamelessly promote myself and try to get out of my comfort zone with my writing and ideas. I didn't know what I was entirely getting into, but I knew that after reading so many great stories on here, I wanted to start my own.
I want to say, you all have definitely seen my progression as a writer (I started this story in high school) and stuck with it no matter the flaws, or even my inconsistencies/hesitations, and I am super grateful. I am thankful to have a group of people, no matter the size, want to read all of the weird ideas coming from my head.
I don't give my story on here as much attention as I do for my other outside works, but I want to change that. Even then, I'm thinking of maybe even publishing a new story in the future. Thank you again.
With love,
Aaliyah
Chapter 16 Sneak Peak:
"Please have a seat and make yourself comfortable," Naomi motioned. She watched as Faith's eyes trailed every inch of her office. The act appeared somewhat dominating and instinctual, an expression similar to having déjà vu. Her eyes lingered for a second longer until she finally circled back around to Naomi and curled her lips into another ordinary smile.
"Lovely office, you have here. It's very appealing."
She saw Faith's fingertips graze the walls. Hastily marking her territory, she touched the beige interior then the furniture in the center of the room. The room shrunk, observing her, condensing as she sucked up and demanded space. Plopping on the plush couch and shifting her bag beside her, Faith inhaled an exaggerated breath. Naomi crossed her office with ease, sitting politely across from her client, the woman she was setting up with the man she claimed she had no feeling for, the same man she spoke to on the phone two nights before and the same man who'd protected her and danced with her. Her mouth instantly went dry.
"Are you thirsty?" she questioned with a light tone, attempting to hide the shakiness.
"I am a little. Thank you. The walk here was a drag."
"You live far from here?"
"Just a couple blocks, but it felt like the sun was beaming down on me."
Naomi reached into a mini fridge beside her desk and pulled out a cool bottle of water. In both hands, she carried them back to the center of the room, handed one to Faith while she set the other on the table.
"Thank you, Ms. Riley."
Naomi replied with only a gentle grin. Over to her left was a slim folder. Inside held all the information she gathered on Faith, along with all the info she had on Noah. Clearing her throat and setting the thin sheets down on her lap, she lifted her head and started, "So, what do you do for a living Faith. I know you're real big on politics."
"I mean, I do follow them if that's what you meant," Faith giggled and kept her gaze zoomed in on Naomi. She continued, "But, yes, I am a police officer. I actually work here in Atlanta."
Naomi's face lit up in surprise.
"Wow, that's awesome," Naomi straightened her posture and gripped the sheets on her lap.
"Thank you," she replied gently.
"What else are you interested in? Any cool or outlandish hobbies?"
Faith pondered the question for a brief second, brushing a blond lock behind her ear and pursing her thin lips together.
"Hmmm...well, I like to sew when I get a chance, which is rarely. And I enjoy dancing too."
Naomi's eyes almost popped out of her head with the last statement. She hesitated before finally questioning, "Dance, huh?"
Her heart continued to pounce inside her chest. How ironic it was that she loved to dance, just like Noah. She shifted in her seat, slightly, trying to avoid seeming nervous. She continued with fake enthusiasm.
"Well, that's great to hear because the match I have you set up with this week, loves to dance." And he's damn good at it.
"Really?"
Naomi sat up from her seat and passed the pages she had on Noah across the table to Faith. She watched eagerly, grabbing the documents and flipping through each page, appearing to take all the new information in.
"On those pages says only a few major things about Mr. Noah Alexander."
"Noah? Noah Alexander?"
Her brows furrowed in confusion at Faith's familiarity.
"You know him?"
"Do I know him?" Faith chuckled as she further read and lingered on all of his photos.
"Everyone knows who he is in Atlanta."
Everyone did except me.
"I-I can't...I can't believe I'm going on a date with him," her mouth fell open as she pulled out a friendly photo of him. "I knew he was handsome, but wow..." Faith's eyes squinted at the sheet. "He's handsome and smart." A smile hastily flashed on her lips.
She couldn't lie. Naomi was shocked but then realized that she should have known better. Noah is one of the top lawyers in Atlanta. He even has billboards, for God's sake. Of course, he's well known. People are destined to recognize him, especially women like Faith.
