Once upon a time, not to long ago, there was a girl that lived on Harbor avenue. Lily she was called, and lily was she remembered as. She lived in a family consisting of her father Mr.Grimes, a business man that only believed in logic and science, her mother Mrs.Grimes, who was an artist full of imagination, her brother Sam, who loved to build, and her Grandmother, an elderly woman that could bake almost anything. Lily Grimes was the oldest child and loved to write. Her stories made her feel happy when she was down, and they helped her find her way when she was lost. Lily had everything a girl could have wanted, a home, a family, a school, and friends, but she felt like something was missing. Yes the writing helped for a while but she still felt like a puzzle that wasn't complete. Whenever she would be at school she would always be picked on by other kids for dressing like a boy. Lily felt sad, she liked the way she dressed and she liked the idea of being a boy, but since she was born a girl there were so many rules. She had to sit up straight at the dinner table, she couldn't raise her voice, she must have long clean hair, and she mustn't be attracted to other girls. Whenever lily would go up a hill that wasn't far from her home she would think about how she was so different and how her parents would react if they found out that she wanted to be a boy. The pressure was becoming worse and worse, the pressure never stopped, and her feelings never changed. One day on a cold night she came up to her parents who were at the dining table with her brother Sam and confessed. "Father, mother there is something that I really need to tell you," she began. "What is it Lily dear," said her mother. "Well...um" she looked at her dad who had the very common blank expression on his face. "I want to be a boy," there was a sound of a cup hitting the solid oak table harshly, and the sound of her little brother sighing deeply. "What!" Said her father in a infuriating tone. "No daughter of mine will be a boy now got to your room, and I don't want to hear anymore of this." "But it's not fair, you don't get to choose if I want to be a boy or a girl," said Lily. "Did you just raise your voice," said her father standing up. "Fine you want to be a boy then be a boy," he said as he grabbed her by the arm and dragged her to a kitchen cabinet were he pulled out a price of scissors and cut her hair. When she managed to escape his grip she ran to her room to find herself looking in the mirror that had a boy in it. But the thing is, the boy in the mirror was Lily. Her purple hair covered one of her eyes as the back side of her hair was cut of completely. She started to wear boy like clothes more often and she even started to look like a real boy. After years and years have gone by her parents disowned her, and threw her out on the streets. The lesson they thought they were teaching her was that you must always obey what you parents tell you. So on a cold winters night, with the wind blowing cold Lily who now was 20 stood in a telephone booth with a paper and pen. She started to scribble and scramble with words on the paper eventually leaving it under her family home door. She started to walk up the old hill near her family home and slowly started to go near its edge that had a steep fall. She looked down and turned with her back facing the edge. She spread her arms out like she had wings, and said her final words,"Goodbye," and jumped of the edge. The next day after her parents walk out the door Lily's father noticed a note. On the note there was a single word that read ,"Goodbye" and it was signed by the girl who wanted to be a boy. THE END.
