Abigail's POV
'Aargh..!'
I groaned at the noisy alarm clock that was situated on the pink table next to my bed.
I feel sorry for it, every time it makes that annoying sound to wake me up, I snatch it and give it the hardest shot till it lands on the floor, and it will eventually give out silence.
but this morning, I had no glucose in my body to do that. I felt as though I was carrying some heavy weight on my body, I could hardly move my hand to stop the stupid alarm.
I don't know where I suddenly got the energy from but I quickly jumped off my single bed when I heard the loudest bang on my door. It scared the hell out of me...
''Sweetie, open up'' shouted my mother.
''Go away'' I screamed.
''Please honey, open'' she begged.
I dragged myself to the door and opened for her.
''Ooh honey, you look terrible, like you were hit by a truck or something'' my mom said in a worried tone while putting her hands on my cheeks.
''I'm fine okay, what do you want?'' I rudely asked.
The minute I recalled the boarding school drama, tears just starting running down my checks.
I couldn't believe my ears when my mom started to open up.
She shared about her horrific experiences in high school.
Who knew that my precious mother broke her virginity at the age 16 in a toilet cubical...she was raped by 7 boys that day. IMAGINE!!!
Her own mother did not believe her, she argued that she had asked for it. She told me she was no different than me expect that she experienced worse.
She was cursed daily and called names simply because she was so different from the other kids, she had values and respect but well...in other people's eye, she was making herself better.
When my grandma passed on, she was given a chance to move in with Aunty Grace where she started life afresh...she became a new person, the person that she is now...she became 'normal'. She ended her statement with, ''I don't want the same thing to happen to you''
so she actually thought it would be better at a boarding school. I found it hard to believe.
Rooseten Ville was the only place I knew, it was my only home. Leaving it for Cape Town was something else.
The honest truth is thinking about it was just a waste of my precious time. I could be doing something better with it. Did I ever mention to you that I have a hidden talent??Well...I do. I said hidden right, meaning no one knows about it except for myself. SINGING.
I might have a squeaky voice, but trust me...it lets out sweet words.
