Lily's POV

*My best friend died a year and a half ago and i'm still pretty shaken up about it, but as time fades my hurt will fade. Emma had passed away because of car crash. She was in the hospital for three months before she just gave up. She just couldn't handle it anymore. This is her story now. I'm saying some now, the rest will be her doing. How can she tell you her story? You ask. Through me.*

Mom and I left the hospital as soon as we knew Gray was in the same room as Emma was. I hoped in her jacked up Chevy truck, that I picked out, and buckled the run down old fashioned seat belt.

"I'll be back." I said. She thought i was zoning out and going to la la land but what she doesn't know, is that I can talk to Emma. I can communicate with dead people. That's totally normal, right?

"Okay, here's your earbuds." She said handing me my favorite skullcandy earbuds to me after hiding them for three weeks because apparently I listen to too much music. I honestly don't listen to enough.

I closed my eyes with my music playing. Country music of course. I was desperately trying to concentrate on the beats. I looked over at her and saw her lips move while looking directly at me. I pulled my left earbud out of my ear. "Huh? What did you say?" I said trying to read her lips.

"Nothing. I didn't say anything. I was singing." She said casually, while I put my earbud back in my ear, playing my music. I turned my phone back on, noticing i had three messages. I opened up my phone just to realize two were from an friend of mine, Shawn.

"Hey. Where are you Lillianna? Remember? We have plans."

And

"Hello? Earth to Lillianna?"

I text Shawn back reminding her that we are on our way to her party. She's celebrating us making it through our first year of highschool. Just because she wanted to. The another text was from Sawyer saying he was already at the party but couldn't find me.

"We stopped at a gas station.I'll be there in about ten minutes." I text back with a smiley face emoji. Send. As soon as I text him, he text me back.

"K, c u soon. Make sure to bring your guitar." He text back with an heart emoticon. I set my phone in my pocket reaching for the handle of the door, stepping out on the cement covered ground of the gas station. I walked up to the gas station to get an coffee with the leftover cash I still had from buying a guitar.

"Use full words when you text please. You know that drives me crazy. Bye the way, did you know men are six times more likely to be struck by lightning than women?" I text back feeling smarter than i already was. 'Just an few minutes left.' I thought to myself. I walked in, grabbed a coffee and walked up to the register.

"Is this all?" The guy at the register said, after pushing an few buttons on the register.

"Yep, thank you." I said grabbing the coffee and paying the man. I was halfway out of the store when my phone goes off again. Ding.

"I'm sorry that I don't use full words when I text. And i'm sorry that drives you crazy. Using shorter words take less time to type, so if you used shorter words I wouldn't get huge paragraphs. Yes, I did know about the lightning thing, but did you know that a group of pugs is called an grumble?" He put with heart emoticons. Pugs are his favorite dog breed.

I replied, "You have told me this before. Be there in 5 minutes. I have the guitar in the bed of the truck, don't worry."

"Good, you can show off your talent to the band geeks. See you in a few. I love you." He said the band geek thing sarcastically because i'm a marching band geek too.

"I love you more." I said, as I buckled back up. Mom turned the truck back on and pulled the truck into drive.

"No you don't. I love YOU more." He replied. I felt as if an 'i love you more' war was about to start, but I always win.

Shawn and the saxophones and an few other people were standing in the front yard when we pulled up. Shawn's two dogs were going nuts when I stepped out of the truck. A chocolate lab and a golden retriever were standing outside dragging the person holding the leashes. She was a few inches taller than me, with shoulder length dirty blond hair. Her outfit was the causal One Direction, Harry Potter, or Shawn Mendes t-shirt, a pair of skinny blue jeans, and black converse shoes.

Ding. "I have friends. " I said as I grabbed my acoustic Guitar from the bed of the truck. I pulled my phone out and read the message:

"Have fun Sweetie, I'll pick you up later. ~mom." I rolled my eyes and gestures for her to roll down her window.

"Really mom? I'm standing right outside the truck. Whatever, bye." I said as I walked to the door carrying the guitar in it's two-strapped guitar bag. I walked in the house looking around for Sawyer. Throughout the huge crowd of people, I was sure I wasn't going to find him easily.
