~Prologue~
A girl was walking barefooted in the snow-covered forest. She was numb. Her feet was numb. Her hands were numb. And she didn't want to walk anymore. The only thing that supported her now was a beautiful snilver-white wolf with the palest blue eyes. The girl's companion was getting worried. It could feel that the girl was exhausted, having walked for hours in the cold seeking shelter. It could only feel very little body heat coming from the girl and that was not a good sign.
Tired. So tired.
The girl's thoughts echoed through the wolf's mind. This was not unusual to the both of them as they have been together since birth.
Suddenly, the girl fell. Startled, the wolf nudged the girl's body. Gently at first, but harder once it became apparent that she wasn't going to wake.
This was terrible for the wolf. If the girl died, then the wolf's existence would be no more. It was her protector and as her protector, the wolf had to make a decision that may not be in favor with the girl. The wolf was prepared to face her wrath when she wake up. It was pprepared to face her volatile emotions until it dissipated when she became rational again. The only thing that the wolf could not bear was the hurt that would appear in her crimson eyes.
The wolf sighed, closed its eyes for a moment and picked the girl up. This was hard considering that her arms tightly clutched a book. Finally suceeding, the wolf headed towards the nearest human settlement.
