Jasmine
Weeks.
It had been weeks since Mason and I had laid eyes on a certain smitten wolf, let alone carry out a proper conversation with him.
And it was all because of her. Hayden Romero, a sophomore just like the rest of us. In my opinion, she's a total bitch. In preschool, she didn't give Liam the time of day, but apparently it all changes when you're in high school..
"Don't sweat it." Mason spoke, snapping me from my trance as we sat at an empty table with equally empty trays in our hands. "Liam can look after himself, he's a big guy, Jas."
I couldn't help it as I rolled my eyes and grumbled under my breath. "I don't give a damn if he can look after himself or not." I muttered. "The second she finds something better, she'll leave him, and he'll be alone because he forced him away from us."
"Away from us?" He questioned, biting into his shiny red apple and chewing before swallowing it. "Or away from you?"
"Shut up." My voice certainly wasn't as strong as it should've been, which told a completely different story.
We both jumped as we heard a voice that we hadn't heard in quite a while. "She's right, Mason." The baby wolf said, his voice cracking softly. "She found something better, and left me." He shrugged.
"Told ya." I muttered under my breath, earning a sharp jab in the ribs from Mason, the look on his face telling me to be nice. "No. You can console him all you want. I'm not going to just stand their and baby the boy because he should've listened!"
A few people turned to watch as I shoved my tray away from me and stood up, marching out of the cafeteria with a pissed off look on my face.
"Jasmine!" Liam shouted as he jogged to catch up with me. It was just the two of us, stood outside, alone.
"Don't even bother, Liam." I crossed my arms over my chest, pushing most of my weight onto my left foot. "I warned you about Hayden! I told you that this would happen- and did you believe me? No. Because you're an idiot!"
Liam stayed completely silently as he listened to the girl he considered to be his best friend (aka me) ramble on about how stupid he was.
"You should've listened to me! I told you that she'd leave you, Liam." I stated, looking anywhere but him. "I reminded you a thousand time about how she treated you like shit in preschool, and you refused to listen! I-"
I guess it was by instinct, because the second he'd gotten enough of my consistent rambling, I felt a warm pair of lips pressed against mine, and my eyes closed almost immediately.
Usually, in the movies, people would talk about how they felt fireworks erupting in their stomachs, a herd of elephants trying to dance the tango.
But that wasn't it for me.
I didn't feel butterflies or elephants or fireworks. I felt a sense of relief, my stomach tingled and buzzed tenderly and my heart felt like it would jump out of my throat.
When his soft lips detached from mine, both of us were panting softly, trying to gain back the air we'd sacrificed, and I was trying to stop my heart from attempting to burst out of my chest.
"I hate you." I breathed, our foreheads pressing flat against each others, my eyes locking with his bright blue orbs.
Liam smiled straight away as his breath fanned out. "I hate you too."
It really didn't matter how hard I tried, because in the end we were both stood there like smiling buffoons- even more so when Mason walked out, staring at us both.
"It's about time." He laughed, his eyes twinkling.
