Hello from my last day on Earth. Ever! My name is Kyle Rhider, and these are the logs we are required to take throughout our journey. If you aren't familiar with the situation, here it is.
Our planet has fallen into chaos. Homeless wander the streets. Thieves and murderers wander unchecked and unchallenged, while only threads of our once mighty governments remain. The majority of the population is living in poverty, and only the government officials have it easy. Our downfall began when Mars first declared it's independence from the Earth governments, and is now it's own independent society. Shortly after Mars became it's own, Titan followed suit, and the various asteroid colonies after it. Even the colony world of Pluto organized itself and became independent. Earth was alone again. With such major changes Earth's society crumbled and ceased to function as it once had. In the mean time the climate kept getting worse and worse until the ice caps melted and major flooding occurred, triggering storms and turning Earth into a planet of extremes. 35 years ago in the year 4021, the remnants of our world's governments came together to put a bold new idea into action; a massive space vessel capable of interstellar travel to take 3,000 of humanities best people, the most noble, strong, intelligent, ambitious, and kindest people to a whole new solar system. I am one of those three thousand. Once our journey aboard the Starfarer begins we will be put into Cryostasis and sleep for 60 years until we reach the Alpha Centauri system, our desired target. Once there we will head to Meterious. It's a new planet that we will be able to terraform to support us. Overall the terraforming should take about six months. Machines these days, eh? Aren't they amazing? Anyway I have to go now. I've said my goodbye's to Earth and am now boarding skyhook, basically a giant elevator propelled towards doorstep by particle beams. For those of you who don't know, doorstep is a large space station in orbit above Earth that true to it's namesake, is our doorstep to the stars. I'll record more once I board the shuttle from doorstep. Farewell, Earth.
