James' POV
I woke up, took a shower, I put on a shirt and some jeans, and headed downstairs for breakfast. Today was a Saturday so I really got nothing to do. As I went into the kitchen, mom was cooking (pancakes!), dad (still getting the hang of it) was reading the daily newspaper and Kian was eating. I was searching for an empty seat and the only one was beside Kian. So much for keeping my distance. I sat down beside him, and mom placed a stack of pancakes in front of me.
"Here you go, James," mom said. My stomach was grumbling and I quickly started gobbling up the whole thing (not really) and Kian didn't seem to mind me. "And don't forget to get ready for you doctor's appointment."
I stopped eating.
I totally forgot about my doctor's appointment, I thought, and I thought I had the whole day to myself to do anything INCLUDING spying on Kian.
"Doctor's appointment?" Dad asked, looking up from the newspaper.
"I forgot to tell you. James has to go to the hospital for a check up every month to make sure he's in good condition. The reason to this is because he had trouble breathing when he was born and it effected him growing up." Mom explained.
I quickly ate the remaining of my breakfast and spoke up,
"Mom, can't I drop out of this one? I've been doing great for the past few months," I continued " Even the doctor said so."
The doctor a.k.a Dr. Bolton. I never really was a fan of his. He always treated me as if I were five years old. He may not seem to know it, but he's insulted me a couple of times. He's a nice guy, really. Just, very..... Old. Yeah. He's like sixty years old. And the one thing that made me dislike him is that he NEVER gives me candy. I know, I might be childish about this but seriously! When I was like three, we went for a check up and I saw a jar filled with candy on his desk. I asked him for some candy 'cause SOMEHOW taking something without permission is bad and rude. So, back to the story, as I asked him for candy, he said no and, instead, gave me a popsicle stick that is used for checking your throat. I was like seriously?! Dude, I'm only three and you gave me a stick that could probably be a choking hazard. I still remembered it. And one more thing, he is very slow on picking up on things. I don't mean THINGS, I mean WORDS. My mom had trouble talking to him once and it was quite hilarious to me.
"Come on, James. You're not entirely sure that you're as fit as a fiddle. Besides, the doctor said you only have a few months to go and then you won't have to go anymore," Mom continued "And if you go, I'll bring you to the comic store to buy what you want afterwards."
I thought about it, hesitating at first and finally admitting defeat. I sighed and said "Fine. But you also have to take me to the video game store to buy me a new game."
She gave me a look and said "Okay. Just get ready in an hour."
"Yes! Thanks mom." I put my plate in the sink and ran up the staircase. Mom shook her head at my behavior, smiling, while dad laughed. Kian excused himself and went to his room, took a quick glance at me before going in and closing the door. I looked at him for a while before shrugging and entering my own room. I practically flopped on my bed, back first, looking up at the ceiling and thought;
This is great. Although I have to go to the hospital and meet Dr. Bolton, so much for avoiding the old man, I would still have the rest of the day doing nothing except for reading my new comics and playing my new games afterwards. I guess I could stop worrying about Kian for awhile. Nothing could ruin this day.
I got up from my bed, slid on my hoodie shirt over my shirt and headed downstairs. Mom was already at the door. She took her keys, unlocked the car and and we got in the car. She started the engine and drove off to the hospital.
3rd Person POV
As they left, they didn't notice a certain 'someone' was watching them leaving the driveway until they were so far that they couldn't be seen by the naked eye.
