Manic's Story

Chapter 6

    "Shadow?" I whimpered. "W- what are you doing?"   

    He had almost taken the first ring off, when a blue blur caught my attention. It sped from the other side of the room and slammed straight into Shadow, knocking him off-balance.

    "Ow!" Shadow yelped.

    "Shadow, I swear, if you put one finger on my brother, I'll never forgive you, and I will hunt you down, and give you a slow, painful death!" Sonic yelled.

    Luckily, when Sonic hit Shadow, he put the infinity ring back on. I breathed a sigh of relief. I watched as Sonic pinned Shadow on the wall, one hand on his throat.

    "Sonic?" Shadow choked out. "W- what are you doing?"

    "I don't know who you think you are, but no one charges my brother and threatens to kill him." Sonic's grip tightened. "No one!"

    Shadow grabbed Sonic's arm, trying to get him to let go.

    "Sonic, stop! You're hurting him!" I shouted.

    "Who the Hell cares?" Sonic snapped. "I certainly don't!"

    I got up and slammed myself into Sonic's arm. He yelped in pain and fell to his knees, holding his arm. He looked up at me, pain and shock filling his gaze. I heard Shadow coughing and gasping for air behind me.

    "He may have threatened to kill me, but that's no reason to kill him! You may not give a damn, but I do!" my voice cracked. "Killing and violence in not the answer to our problems!"

    "Manic, have you gone mad? You know he's the Ultimate Lifeform! If he had taken only one ring off you would be a goner! If I hadn't stopped him, me, Sonia and Mom would be the only ones left! It's The Council of Four, not The Council of Three!" Sonic was starting to tear up. Thinking about my death wasn't a very good thought.

    "Yeah, but still, that's no reason to kill Shadow. Without him, how would we have been able to defeat all of those battles? Huh? Have you ever thought of that?" I asked him.

    "Guys, we should really be looking for the others." Silver said from the corner.

    "Oh, yeah!" Sonic, Shadow, and I ran towards the door with Silver trailing behind.

    We ran outside, and skidded to a halt. In front of us, a hovering vehicle floated above ground. It was rounded, and driving it was a round figure. He had a large mustache, and a round belly. This was not your average Santa Claus.

    "Robotnik!" I hissed.

    "My dear little hedgehog, I'm not Robotnik. I'm his son, Dr. Eggman." he sneered.

    "Oh, look. It's the giant talking egg!" Sonic smirked. We snickered. Egg.

    "Hey, Eggman. Came I have my eggs sunny side up?" Silver laughed.

    Eggman looked steamed. He was sitting there, anger distorting his face. Then, suddenly, a sly, evil smile crept across his mouth.

    "You're going to have to stop laughing if you want to see your friends again." he took out a hologram and let us see it. It projected a shape and then I saw the figure of a very terrified orange fox. Then it flashed a picture of Amy, staring scaredly at something off-screen.

    "Amy!" I yelled. "Tails! What have you done to them Robotnik? Tell me!"

    "How many times do I have to tell you? Robotnik was my father! I'm Dr. Eggman!" he shouted at me.

    "I don't give a damn! Just tell me where they are, you motherf*cking bastard!" I shouted at the top of my lungs.

    "Manic......" Sonic gasped.

    "What?" I snapped.

    "I've never heard you say so many bad words....." he whispered.

    "So? It's true! No one gives a damn if he's not Robotnik! I just care about my friends!" I snapped my head back to Eggman.

    "Give them back, or I'll.... I'll........!" I growled.

    "You'll what?" Eggman taunted.

    "I'll......" my voice faded away.

    "I thought so. You won't do anything for your friends. You're a coward. A fake." Eggman smiled. "You're nothing but...."

    Don't say it......

    "A..."

    Do not say it........

    "Traitor...."

    He said it.

    "Manic, what is he talking about?" Sonic asked.

    I flattened my ears. This was it. My big moment. I was going to have to tell them. I took a deep breath.

    I would have to tell them what happened.
