16 years before the anime

At the Kyoto Public Hospital, a man with red hair and golden eyes was pacing back and forth, outside of his wife's hospital room. It was a cold December day, five days before Christmas Day. The door opened and a nurse came out. The man walked up to her.

"How's my wife?" he asked. The nurse smiled a kind smile and motioned the man inside. When he entered he looked over to his beautiful wife, who adorned brown hair and red eyes. He noticed the little bundle in her arms. He walked over and looked at the little baby. He smiled and looked at his wife. They smiled and turned toward the little baby.

"Ano, sorry to ruin this happy moment but..." a nurse said. The couple looked up at her questionably. "The second child..."

"What second child?" Mr. Akashi asked. The nurse showed the little bundle in her arms.

"Unfortunately, he's very unhealthy. We are going to have to keep him here until he's better" the nurse said. The little baby in the nurse's arms had extremely pale skin and he had light red hair, while the baby in Mrs. Akashi's arms had a healthy skin tone and bright red hair, but they were twins. Mr. Akashi couldn't believe it. He had twin baby boys, but one was extremely unhealthy.

"I understand. I'll pay the bills, for as long as it takes for him to get better." The nurse nodded and left the room with the baby. Mr. Akashi turned back to Mrs. Akashi. "So, what are the baby's names?" Mrs. Akashi turned to her husband then back to her healthy baby.

"I think this one's name will be Seijuro and the other... How about Sora?"

"Yeah, I think those are good names." He smiled and turned to his son, who had already opened his blood red eyes. "Welcome to the world, Akashi Seijuro."

8 years later

Eight years have passed since the birth of the twins. Seijuro has been the strong, intelligent twin, while Sora was the weak, fragile twin. They were two opposites. Their father wasn't very happy about Sora, but their mother was always encouraging Sora to try better, and even showed him and Seijuro how to play basketball. The two boys were almost never away from each other. Their mother was the reason for this. She was their light, their hope, the one who shows them kindness. And just like the light turns to darkness, the hope turns into despair, and kindness disappears, people go to sleep, forever. On that day, November eighteenth, Mrs. Akashi layed on her deathbed, sleeping for eternity, her boys weeping, and the Akashi's lives change.

4 months later

It was March ninth. School was ending and report cards were being sent home. Two red headed boys were walking home, report cards in their hands. Seijuro wore a proud smile while Sora wore a depressed frown. They entered the mansion and headed to their father's office, Sora trudging slowly behind his older twin. Seijuro knocked on the door and they heard their father's voice say "come in". The two entered, layed their report cards on their father's desk, and backed up. Mr. Akashi picked Seijuro's up first and looked at the grades.

"Excellent, Seijuro. All A's, that's what I like to see. Now let's take a look at Sora's grades." He set Seijuro's report down and picked Sora's up, which made the smaller twin shrink where he was standing. Suddenly, the father stood up and slammed his palms on his desk, which resulted in Sora jumping. "Akashi Sora! I can not believe this! One A, three B's and two C's?! What kind of grades are those?!" Sora turned his gaze to the floor. He felt tears prickling his eyes, and it didn't help that his father and  brother were both looking at him with disappointment.

"They are unacceptable and punishable grades, father" Sora whispered, just loud enough for his father to hear.

"That's right, now get out of my sight!" Sora turned and left his father's office toward his bedroom. When he closed his door, he burst into tears. 'Why is that father is so rude. Ever since mother died, he's been colder and even Sei-nii-sama is acting like father. Why can't they understand that I can't do what they want?' Sora sat their until he fell asleep.

Seijuro was standing outside his brother's bedroom door listening to his baby twin brother sobbing.  When he heard Sora's sobbing calm down, he opened the door and saw his brother sleeping on the floor with tear streaks running down his deathly pale cheeks. Seijuro felt extremely bad for his brother. If he had to be honest with himself, he loved Sora. He has ever since he saw his brother. He's loved Sora more than a brother. If he could, he would date his own brother. Seijuro never liked any of those bratty girls. All that mattered in his life was his twin, his other half, his light that hid in the shadows. 'Oh, Sora. I wish I could tell you how I feel' Seijuro thought sadly. He bent down, picked his brother up, and set him down on his bed. He pulled the satin linen blankets over him and kissed the top of his head. He walked out the room, closing the door with him. He never knew that his brother could ever leave.

7 years later

It has been seven years since that day. Since another light went, since another Akashi left. It's been three long years since Akashi Sora ran away from home. No one has seen the little unhealthy red head since the day after he got yelled at by his father. His father feels responsible, for now he's lost two precious people in the span of four months. For Seijuro, he was never the same. He felt horrible, just knowing that he may never get the chance to tell his baby twin brother how he truly felt. He never felt the same ever again, even when he met the rest of the Generation of Miracles.

He grew to care for his new friend, Kuroko Tetsuya, but after the game with Meiko, Kuroko disappeared. Everyone was hurt, but Seijuro was hurt the most. Not even Aomine Daiki, Kuroko's light, felt as bad as Seijuro. Now Seijuro had lost three precious people to him. First his mother died from an unknown virus, next his brother ran away, and now Kuroko has left and disappeared. 'Why is it that, every time I hold someone precious, they disappeared. Is it that, I'm not meant to have precious things? If so, then I'll give everything up'. And from that day on, Seijuro was never the same. He grew even colder. Now he was in high school, and is the captain of the Rakuzan basketball club. Oh, how he misses his loving mother, his close friend, Kuroko, and his dear innocent baby twin brother. But soon, everything would change, and for the good.
