Chapter 1

The moment you can first talk decides if you are with us or the Suits. My team and I are responsible for figuring that out and getting the free thinkers home. We are located on the edge of what used to be Brazil. Here at camp everyone has a job. Runners go and take supply off of Suit Slave cargo cars, Nursemaids take care of everyone's wellbeing as well as watch the young ones who aren't in training yet, Chiefs cook, Hunters hunt for fresh meat and on occasion go spy for information, Defenders protect base camp. We also have your everyday workers, and finally our Judges, they are the ones who count the votes, and make sure everything is running smoothly.

My team is known as the Gifted; each one of us has a special skill that others don't, I can tell exactly who would be helpful to the rebellion and who belongs with the Suits, Elly can hack into anything, Cole has the strength of ten fully grown men, Kayan can fool anyone, Silent is our master spy, and then there is my father, the one who started the rebellion, he is our mastermind. My dad has been missing for a little over a month, my team and I are going up to what used to be America but is now the capital of Salvum and we are going to get him back.

"Elly, have you hacked into the database of the Suits yet?" I ask, my voice laced with authority. My team knows my needs before I do guarantee she already has it done and a list of recent prisoners.

"Did and done Sky, and before you ask I'm looking through the recent prisoners up to the last month," Elly replies cockily. Exactly. This is why we work well we aren't individuals we are one- we work as one we think as one. And this is why I will take done the Suits.

"Good, Silent when we arrive at the capital you will be undercover as a secretary for a new company built right next to their command center. Kayan you and I will be house maids for one of the Suit's mistress. Cole you will act as a bodyguard for the Russian Suit. Elly stays back and keeps an eye on things. Everyone clear?" Without waiting for a response I continue, "Good, we leave at dusk tomorrow."

"Sky! Hey Sky wait up!" Elly calls, running to catch me. "Skylar Ellen Jones I will castrate you if you don't stop this instant young lady!" She yells. I can't help but crack a smile, Elly is the only one I knew before the Suits took over. I stop, letting her catch up before continuing my walk around camp.

"Yes Elly?" I say, trying my hardest not to grin.

"Before you go we are going to have a girls' night like we used to, me, you, and Kayan. No buts, what's, or no's, it's happening whether you like it or not. I'll be by later to pick you up, chao baby," She says with absolutely no place for wiggle room. Skipping off she runs into a door. How she is the smartest person I know, I have absolutely no idea I swear she's more bubbly than a person should allow to be.

"Skylar you should go. You've been working hard enough," It's rare for Silent to talk, let alone start a conversation. Which is a downer for many of the women here at the base, who would rather gossip and droll over him than do their jobs.

"Silent, you and I know that I can't and won't. My father is out there stuck with those things," I spat in disgust, "I can't stop until he's back and Suits pay for what they have done."

"Whatever you say Sky, take care of yourself," there is a ghost of a smile as he slips away. No one really knows where he came from, many think he's mute. I can't imagine what that must be like, I have Elly and Dad but to have no one through all this? How could one go through it.

We have built a living breathing community, spiraling with heart and soul. We only grow stronger with every passing day, all because of my father. He scoured the globe looking for people like us. Eight years ago when I was nine years old he saw this coming are started training me, constantly testing my mental capability, my advanced reflexes, and my endurance to pain. He was raising me to be a leader, a warrior. Not his little girl. All I have ever wanted was my father's love, pride, and affection. When he brutally abused me to train me for the torture that would come my way if I was caught, he never said 'sorry' or 'good job' when I didn't give in.

Now that he is gone he will expect me to take up leadership of the rebellion, not to go after him. I have done everything that man has wanted of me. All I want is a hug and kiss like he used to give me and that's why I have to go save him, wherever he is.

"Katie, my team and I are going to be gone for exactly two and a half months. Elly will be here to give orders to the Runners, and Hunters. I want you to make sure everyone stays safe, I want little to no deaths when I get back. And if I don't come back, you need to handle panic control," I say looking at the middle aged woman in front of me. Katie is like a mother to me, after mine died a year after the Suits took over, she's a petit woman, but don't let that fool you, because she has a wrath that the devil himself would be scared of.

She gives me a solemn look, "Skylar, you will come back, and when you do I'm going to give that father of yours a stern talking to," Katie says, her southern accent coming out. I run up to her wrapping my arms tight around her. I love Katie's hugs, they are like a mother bear protecting her cubs. Strong, loving, and fierce. My eyes sting with tears threatening to spill, they never do though, I have to be strong for everyone here. I'm going to miss Katie most of all.

"I will come back, I promise," I told her, acting strong, but that was a promise I didn't know if I wanted to break or not.

Before releasing me of her hug she says, "Oh, and good luck getting out of that girls night with Elly."

"Trust me there is no way I'm going."
