The hallways wooden paneling was starting to warp as flames started to lick the bottom of the walls. As I round another corner the heat hits my face in a wave and I take a step back. The man is standing there his eyes black and cold his hands ablaze, the whole room around him on fire. His eyes seem to look through me as I stare back at him. He takes the first stride leaping toward me as I turn to run.
The hallways start to blur around me as I take another corner, I duck as another flame flies past my head hitting a rafter that falls seconds after I run under it.
"Scarlett! This way!" A voice screams as I turn to run after aquaman.
The wood slowly turns into metal. The man is on my heals, I have no other choice. I feel my legs tense as I speed up and embrace for the impact. My shoulder hits the window and I feel the wind knocked out of me as I begin to free fall. My hands automatically shoot to my sides as red light shoots out of them propelling me fifty feet above the water. The man looks out the window flames behind him.
"You think that will save you?" he laughs as he points his hands at me.
I hesitate slightly as I
clench my fists and free fall making impact with the water. Everything goes dark as my eyes adjust to the water around me. A blinding light flickers above as the sky turns yellow. My head breaks the water and the entire building is on fire, pulling myself out of the water I make my way to the group standing in a huddle in the grass nearby.
"He hit the nuclear port, the explosion went on for miles, everyone in a five mile radius would of been effected" batman said looking sternly around the circle. "superman what's the damage?"
Superman scanned the surrounding area. The buildings in the distance looked like skeletans as small red dots flickered tot he heartbeats of the people around.
"Most people seem to be out, we have maybe 25." he replied
"Let's take them out" batman said turning.
"What? we aren't going to just go kill a bunch of people who did nothing wrong" I stated
"They could have been exposed to nuclear reactants, who knows what they could do to them. If there is event he slightest chance that they could use their powers for evil we need to get ride of them. I am not willing to take that chance."
I took off with storm to an apartment building. we walked up the stairs bursting into an apartment. An old lady was laying on the couch with her caretaker next to her. Storm took out a knife slitting the old womans throat. The caregivers eyes widened as she sprinted out of the room
"after her!" storm screamed after me.
I ran into the other room
"You don't have to do this" the woman pleaded looking at me. I took my knife jabbing it toward her skull. She fell to the ground blood dripping from her face. "Please." I tightened my grip on the knife and plunged it into the top of her head watching her crumble.
Storm and I moved to the next room where a family was watching Tv. The mom, dad, and two of the children were transfixed on the movie, but I heard a noise from the other room. Walking around I found a small baby circled up in bed sound asleep. I slowly picked him up holding him closely. I knew I couldn't hurt him. I walked out to the living room where the family was sitting on the couch covered in blood.
"We can save this one." I pleaded with storm. "His is young, we can teach him how to be good, we can steer him away from everyone else. Please don't harm him."
