Alyssa's POV

I panted harder as I noticed how quickly morning was approaching. The steady rhythm of my heart stayed as my legs pumped harder and harder. Finally, my massive form pushed through the leaves and I stood panting the familiar back yard. I glanced up to see the first rays of sunshine filtering through the leaves and I grinned from the sheer joy of going out for a run.

Padding through the first falling leaves, I made my way to my first story window and pulled myself up, tail and all. My gaze flickered to my small alarm clock, making sure it was still too early for Aaron to be up before I let a shiver run down my spine.

A tremer passes over me, starting at my head and slowly making its journey to each part of my body, ending at the black tip of my tail. Standing, bare and cold, I quickly begin pulling on my usual type of school outfit. Black skinny jeans followed by a tank top are thrown over my underware clad body. I pull on my black jacket and my black and white Toms before heading quietly down the hallway.

A loud snore calms my nerves and I know that I will be able to escape to school today without being yelled at, interrogated, or worse by my brother. I quickly grab a granola bar for myself before laying out Aaron's favorite cereal, a bowl with a spoon, and a glass with some painkillers. I know that there is a ninety-nine percent chance he was drunk last night and will probably need those.

Part of the reason I go to the trouble of getting all this for him is that I love him. He is my big brother and before the incident, he was my best friend, my protector. Of course now I can not say the same.

As I sprinted up the steps of my school, I could hear loud and clear the bell signaling I was officially late for first period. Just great, I think to myself as I trudge towards the office to get a late slip. The usual old lady clicks her bony fingers across the keyboard as I enter the office.

"Late again Miss Turner?" she mutters without looking up and I only grunt in response. Ever since the first day of school, this lady has been nothing but rude and snappy towards me. If only she know the reputation us rogues have, my wolf side thinks darkly as I snatch the late slip out of her skeleton hand.

"I'm sure Mr. Rockbough would love to hear how this is your twentieth tardy this quarter alone!" she calls out and I spin around to see her disappear into the principle's office. Just great I think, this day just keeps getting better and better.

Sitting myself down, I bury my face in my hands and hope he does not decide to call my house. A shudder runs down my spine at the thought of what Aaron would do if he found out I got in trouble at school. Also,  I can imagine that he would give the principle an ear full which would only raise questions that I did not need people looking into.

"He will see you now," snides the lady and I have to bite the inside of my lip to keep from saying something I know I will regret later. That is one of the disadvantages to being a werewolf, your temper is awful. Also, being a rogue werewolf also makes one have a terrible temper.

"Right, well I completely understand about that. I once had a flight that was over five hours delayed!" I hear Mr. Rockbough explain to whoever is on the other end of the phone. Nodding once to me,  he instructs me to sit as he finishes his conversation. I sigh and wait as he nods to whatever the other person is saying. Of course if I was not so worried about him calling Aaron, I may have been more curious, but I was more panicked about my brother.

"Well they can come in at lunch today and go to their last two classes just to get a feel for the school and find their way around. I still think it is so interesting how so many people from your town are all moving here at once," Mr. Rockbough continues and I perk up slightly. That kinda sounds like a, I begin to think when suddenly Mr. Rockbough says his goodbyes to the person on the other end of the line and hangs up.
