A lot of people are so self-involved and flippant that they mistake kindness for flirtation. I see this happen all the time. Person 1 is kind to Person 2. Person 2 racks their mind thinking that Person 1 likes then. Person 2 confronts Person 1, and ends up heartbroken. It's sad that people just misread signs so much sometimes.
