Alone without a familiar face in sight, a young Clifton traveled the sea away from a life he barely knew at the tender age of 4. Sent away to strange lands with little to no guarantee of survival, such a life a child must endure. However, it is said that the sun will always propel the dark and with that young Clifton was met by someone unfamiliar to him but carried the same name. His uncle Cornelius was asked by his father take in the young boy and look after him. Torn, lost, and sad, Clifton welcomed his uncle in a desperate need of wanting security and love. Unfortunately, seasons change and with those changes come things you're not always prepared for. Cut resided with his uncle for 4 years in Bronx, New York before the inevitable change struck again. Once more, was Cut left alone, lost, and unloved but this time he was determined to survive regardless. Before those events took place, the time spent with his uncle is a time he'd always remember, the times his uncle went without to ensure he had, how he worked endlessly trying his hardest to give Cut somewhat of a decent life. Christmas for them was being be able to have a warm place to rest as addresses for them often changed and at times that change was no address.
He was eight and they were just getting by but happy yet sometimes happiness is stifled by pain and anger. Cut witnessed a time where men stormed through their small studio apartment leaving a trail of destruction as they moved forward. Scared but willful to fight back, Cut was ready to fight by side his uncle. What he did not know was that the battle was not his to fight. Leading up to the ambush Cut’s uncle ensure his nephew wouldn't share his fate.
Go and hide in the wall. Cornelius said.
No, I'm staying here. Cut shot back.
Boy do not allow your ignorance to blind you, they're not here for money but blood now go! Cornelius yelled.
I don't want to lose you, please. Cut replied.
And I you but you must live, now go, hurry. Cornelius said.
I love you always. Cut said as he hid away.
I love you too. Cornelius replied.
That was the last moment they shared as their lives were separated by the definition of life and death.
Where is the boy, we know you have him? Unknown person asked.
I don't know but if I did do you think I'd turn on my blood for you. I got out and only wished my foolish brother did too. Your travels were futile, the boy isn't here. Cornelius said.
We’ll find him and you better hope his father is more understanding than you or he’ll be a childless father. Unknown person replied.
Ha! Either you're going to kill me or not but spear me the dramatics, mi not give a damn. Fuck batty boy. Cornelius said.
As you wish my dear brother. Clinton said.
May you rest eternally in hell, Clinton. Cornelius replied.
POP POP POP!!! Shots fired y'all.
The sight of his lifeless uncle stared back at him and even in death Cut could feel the eerie warmth and love from his still bodied uncle. Young Clifton left their small studio that day but he entered the world as this cold, lonesome, fighter who would be known by many as Cut.
