Why is life so complicated?

    "Do not read!" the piece of paper Carter handed over to me as he looked me in the eye sternly.

 Carter is just a friend, even if we used to date, we are still friends.

         The paper he had given to me was to be given to my best friend Violet who he started 

crushing on. When he turned away to leave, i unfolded the paper and read the information in it 

and it said; "I like you if that is what you want to hear." I gasped and clasped my hands over my 

mouth, my heart sunk in in a big pool of broken pieces. I'm not jealous or anything its just that 

for me it is hard for me to cope with the saying; "If you love something...Let it go."  Violet is my 

best friend and wouldn't like to let her down but at the same time i feel my tear sack leaking. I 

also don;t want to loose our friendship....

  What should i do?
