Chapter 1

Hazel POV

UGGGHHHH why does life have to be so unfair?!? I flopped down on my bed and buried my face in my pillow. my phone rang. all I wanted to do was to put my headphones in and ignore the world. but it was Riley, my best friend and only real friend for as long as I can remember.

"yes" I said, irritated

" wow what's up with you"

I couldn't hold it In any longer

"Riley, never date your guy best friend. Never"I sobbed into the phone

"what...you don't mean...what did Jackson do to you cause I swear if he hurt you I will-"

I cut her off "I don't wanna talk about it"

Jackson was my guy best friend. I had this crazy huge crush on him forever and finally he asked me out. we dated for 6 months before I found out that he cheated on me.

with my very own sister.

and that's not even the worst part. I found out today. on valentines day. we can't go back to the way we were. best friends. forever. and now I'll never get him back,

" I'll be over in 5" Riley told me

it comforted me a little.

I slowly set the phone down and just sat there on the edge of my bed staring into space with tears streaming down my cheeks.

*at hazels house*

"are you gonna tell me? or not?" Riley exclaimed

"Riley I really..j-just...just-"

I can barely even talk. I need to do something to get this off my mind.

"c'mon we are going to the movie theater" Riley commanded as she dragged me out of bed.

Obviously we were gonna see Enders Game. She loves that guy who plays ender...oh what's his name...asa I think...

*after the movie*

" that was...AMAZING" Riley yelled ,hugging me with a huge grin on her face. oh no she was in fangirl mode...

" this was like your 5th time seeing it Riley"

it was true. she was OBSESSED

"no it's my 6th" her grin even bigger now

omg Riley

then I noticed a dark haired boy with blue eyes and glasses staring at me. as soon as I looked in his direction he blushed and turned to his friend. but I couldn't look away.

" hey Hazel I've gotta go but don't beat yourself up over Jackson ok?" Riley nudged me

"uh what? yeah...ok"

"k bye" that huge smile still hadn't disappeared from her face

once she left I looked back to the popcorn stand, where the boy was standing, but he wasn't there.

I looked around trying to find him in the crowd of people but ( unfortunately) I couldn't.

I couldn't stop thinking about that boy for the rest of the night. there was just something about him.

he was...different.
