I woke up. That was probably the best I've slept in a long time. I sat up in bed. I saw Ellie changing her clothes. Her back was to me and she had no top on. I quickly laid my head back down on the pillow-embarrassed.

Ellie was so beautiful. She had long black hair that went down to her mid-back. Her flowing hair complimented her piercing blue eyes and face shape. She looked to be very muscular. I for one wouldn't pick a fight with her.

I peered out from the covers to see if she was finished.

"Good morning, Jonas," she smiled down at me. Her black hair floating around my face.

"M-morning," I said shakily, propping myself up in bed with my elbows.

"There's breakfast in the kitchen for you," she said and walked out of the room.

I got out of bed, and rustled my hair a bit to fix it. I walked into the kitchen. There were eggs, toast, and bacon on a plate. I was starting to like Ellie more and more the longer I spent time with her. I couldn't remember the last time I had good like that. I sat down at the table and ate the food.

"Hey, look who's finally up," Reese said walking by me. "Hello, handsome."

I blushed. I never thought of myself as handsome-more of an awkward person than anything. I have dark brown hair that sticks up and I'm not that strong. Let's just say I'm no model. I'm average.

I continued to eat my breakfast.

"What do you guys do all day?" I asked when I was finished eating. The food tasted so good, and was so filling.

"We mostly stay in here," Ryan said. "El's the only one that goes out."

I nodded.

I hated staying inside all day. I was used to moving around a lot now. I didn't know how Ryan and Reese did it. They lived such sheltered lives. I often wondered if this was the better option out of the two-do what the Authority wants us to do or hide all of our lives.

I sat on the couch.

Ellie sat down next to me. "It's a bit boring, isn't it?" she asked me.

I nodded.

"That's why I volunteered to go to the city to get food."

"Can I come with you?" I asked desperately. I needed to get out of here for awhile.

She chuckled. "I don't think so. If someone saw your mark..." she shook her head not wanting to think about it.

She was right, but I didn't want to believe it. "Well, then I guess I won't let them see my wrist."

She scrunched her eyebrows together, and leaned close to my face. "You're crazy, you know that?"

I shrugged. "I could say the same about you. You don't want to turn me in for money, and keeping me here is risking your life. So, who's the crazy one again?"

"I guess you're right," she agreed. "That'll make us both crazy."

I smiled.

She leaned back into the couch. "So tell me about yourself, Jonas."

I shook my head. "I told you my sob story yesterday."

"Yeah, but not in depth," she said. "Well, I mean if that's alright."

"There's not much more to say. Tell me about yourself."

She gave me a sad look.

"You don't have to," I shrugged.

"No, no, it's okay," she said taking a deep breath. "I don't really know what happened to my parents. I mean I could take a guess as to where they ended up-killed most likely. They left for work one morning when I was thirteen and never came back. I didn't have any other relatives that I knew of, so I knew where I'd end up-a boarding school. I ended up living in the streets for quite some time. Until I wandered out of town and found this house. I've been here ever since."

"Wow," was all I managed to say. How she managed to stay in this house for five years and avoid the Authority was beyond me. I wouldn't have even lasted two weeks or so if El hadn't rescued me.

"Impressive," Reese said walking into the room. "you got her to tell her sob story on your second day here. She waited for like a month with Ryan and I."

"Shut up, Reese," Ellie said embarrassed.

"Just saying," Reese said holding her hands up defensively.
