"I was walking alone through a local mall. I was in a courtyard surrounded by various restaurants and small shops. It had a warm feeling with tropical decor. In the center of the courtyard a barbeque was being held at a fire pit. I walked by and inhaled the scent of pork and charcoal.
I stopped at a frozen yogurt shop to buy a large cup full of pineapple and mango flavored goodness. As I walked out, a boy passed by me. His hair was colored a strange shade of blue, and he wore dark sunglasses and a beanie. I turned around to get a better look at him since I could barely see his features, but when I turned around he was gone. I shrugged it off and kept walking. I needed to leave soon anyway, since I had bought the stuff I wanted.
I made my way back to my car. As I did I realized he was leaning against it. He was staring at me. I stopped and stared back. He got off of my car, and walked past me. As he did, I noticed a smile on his face and a small beauty mark close to his lip. I turned around once again but this time I intended to talk to him, but he was gone.
I knitted my eyebrows together in confusion and walked to my car. As I did, I saw a note on my windshield. I unfolded it and looked at it. 'Do you remember?'
I sighed and opened my car door and sat down. I looked closely at the paper. It was a stationary piece. On the corner of the paper there was a water mark. It was a little cartoon girl smiling.
I started my champagne gold SUV and drove to my small apartment. As soon as I got inside I passed out on my couch.
There was a loud voice in my head as the scene played out before me. 'I was standing by the barbeque pit. The man spinning the roasting pig was laughing. The fire was warm and inviting. Someone waved at me and invited me over, but I declined their offer and kept walking. I made my way to the yogurt shop. Then I saw her. She had long white-blonde hair, green eyes, a small heart shaped face and light skin. She radiated beauty. Beauty and power. I could tell from 10 feet away who she was. But I didn't have time to think right now, I was here to save her. The man walking behind her shakily opened his suitcase, pulling out a small pistol. I rushed past her, grabbed the man, and dissolved his gun. He was shaking even more as he realized his mistake immediately. I smiled and took his suitcase, then dissolved the man. In his suitcase I found a small piece of paper. But when I looked up, the girl was staring at me. She...shouldn't have been able to see me.....she...she shouldn't be able to remember seeing me....'
I woke up covered in sweat. I began coughing and couldn't breath. I didn't understand what I had dreamed about. And I didn't understand why I was in my own dream."
My voice wavered towards the last sentence. This entire day had been confusing. As I finished my story, Ryan shook his head. Dylan was my partner of 5 months. We lived together in my apartment. The best words to describe Dylan are.....not kind words. But Dylan is a good person. He understands me....
He is a complete asshole. He's extremely over protective and believes the entire world revolves around him. He's so self entitled that he believes I should be grateful just to have him. Dylan laughs at the end of my story and gives me a hug. "Sounds like a weird dream." He says and gets up. I sigh and lay back down on the couch. "Well love, don't worry. I won't allow anything to happen to you anytime soon."
Dylan walked over and picked me up. He carried me into our room and laid me on the bed. He began kissing me. But I wasn't feeling it. He noticed immediately that I wasn't getting into it. "What's wrong?" He asked. I just shook my head. "Hey look at me!' He shouted. "Athena," he cooed "please." I sighed and shook my head. I noticed he was becoming frustrated. "Just fuck me!" He shouted.
I got out of the bed and walked to my car. I've had enough. I will not have sex with that man. Checking that I had my phone and wallet, I began pulling out of the garage. Then, Dylan burst out of the apartment doors and ran to my car. Then, he just...stopped. I didn't care why he stopped, I had to leave.
I looked into my rearview mirror so I could see behind me, and there he was. The boy with the indigo hair.
