He had a smile unlike any other
There was no doubt they were perfect for one another
His lips, his kisses
Coming straight from shooting star wishes

His love was from earth to mars
More than night was full of stars
They were guaranteed a dream come true
One wouldn't have guessed the other was so blue

She dreams while he weeps
He cuts while she sleeps
She never knew the true side of him
His sadness and depression he kept within

He never told just kept it inside
While he pondered on staying alive
Until one night he walked out into the snow
He thought she'd be better sleeping alone

He wandered the night phone in hand
He texted her, hands shuttering like sand
"I'm sorry, I can't do this anymore,
I'm not the same man that you met before."

He sent the text and started to cry
He couldn't control his pain inside
Then he heard a ding from his phone
It was from her, and the message shown

"I'm not the same woman either,
I used to be insecure and a cheater.
My shyness made me bitter and meek,
But you chased away the demons from my sleep.

I am thankful you were there for me
Helped me stay positive in everything I see.
You could always put a smile on my face,
You were one I couldn't replace.

But now you're moving on to big and better things
And I'll have nobody to think of when I sing,
And I know it's not you it's them,
Those demons you thought I couldn't see within.

And I know how it is and how it's been,
It's either me or them.
When you get them sorted out you can come home
But until then, You and I will be alone."

And that was the last time they spoke.
Ten distant years it took.
They finally met after so long.
But by then she was married and gone.

She had three kids she loved so well,
And her husband wasn't a mindless shell.
He saw them in the supermarket buying things,
He couldn't forget how she used to sing.

They used to plan their future ahead,
Their kids, even life after they were dead.
But seeing her broke his heart
He started falling apart.

This was the point where they forget,
The feelings they once had set.
Now was the time they let go,
As if the other was unknown.

His loved was no longer earth to mars,
Not even the amount of a single star,
His dreams never came true
And from then on he was forever blue.
