Fighting The Darkness

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

I couldn't believe it! This, was one of the biggest monsters we've EVER seen! It was huge, had demonic eyes, brownish-greenish skin, it looked quite sickly... But that was a feature some of them get, so that they won't be killed! "Come on Charlie! Get out of your perverted little head and fight him!" My partner, Luka, told me, and I snapped out of daydreaming.

Once we were done with that THING, we packed up our stuff, and went to our 'Base'  While we were going there, we just messed around, talking like we were normal, we were DEFINITELY not normal... I mean, we faught MONSTERS, "Dude, you're drifting off again" Luka sighed and I rolled my eyes at her, "At least I have imagination!" I told her, laughing. She laughed with me, "Oh please, you're just thinking of the girls, which are most likely some where out there!" She said laughing at me and I rolled my eyes once again, "Oh please! I don't ALWAYS think about girls, I usually think about how great I am!" I said chuckling and she rolled her eyes "You're so modest!" She then puched me.

So I dramatically fell, and with my walkie-talkie I told the people "I'm down, I'm DOWN! Luka has attacked me and I am DOWN!" I yelled into the thingy. She yanked out of my hand, "This is for ACTUAL emergencies!" She hissed at me and spoke clearly into the thing "I'm so very sorry, you know how Charlie can be," she laughed, it was obviously fake to me, but for most people, it seemed real. Then again, we've been with each other since... well, since we were only about five years old! Yes, I know, that been about twelve years! Yes... this is actually pretty long for two people, like us, sometimes referred to as 'hybrids', they usually only last for an average of about... five years? Yes, that sounds correct. Their first partner is genitically ((Here I am, gonna start talking about genetics O-O XD it's de future man, of course they would base their survival on genetics :p dumb science)) based to BE partners with you, depending on your attitude, like how we can both be pretty calm, but we are very active, and pretty bipolar. So, that's how we're a good match... doesn't make any sense to me either, it's okay. 

"hmm... I have a question for you," Luka asked me "and I have a good question for you," I told her smiling devillishly at her. She rolled her eyes while we walked. "Why is it that you never stay with only one girl? Just skip along, searching for another, never staying with one?" She asked me, looking me straight in the eye. I sighed and rolled my eyes around my head, looking around at everything "I-I honestly don't know..." I said and she smiled at me "I remember when you had glasses, and you were that little nerd, the geek, so smart... then you started being interested in girls... You even had that stutter for a second! And the glasses!" She smiled at me warmly, and we laughed.

"I wonder what it was like... back when these very streets were used, before scientists created monsters, and people like us, " I said to her and she sighed, "Another sign of your geek days! I miss that guy..." She told me and smiled at me warmly, you could only imagine what things she was thinking, probably memories with that geek... ugh! "Stop thinking about when I was that geek!" I yelled at her and she flinched at my attitude, partners were supposed to very gentle, and friendly. That tone with her, was not any of that. "I-I'm sorry, I shouldn-" I said trying to appologize, but she interrupted me, "Whatever, it doesn't matter." I hated it when she acted like this, it made me feel awful.

"Hey, look at that old little shack! I can't believe it actually might've looked... nice!" Luka said, I laughed slightly. "Who knows what it used to be used for." I told her, "Ask the family that lived there..." I knew she was connected with all old creatures, she felt sorry for them, because, they may be gone, or there time was coming up. She could usually tell when it was someone... Time...  

We mostly just walked around, we didn't care if we could get lost, we had trackers inside of us. INSIDE. Yes, creepy. Like, six of them too! One in each our legs, arms, chest, and in our brain. Yes. Weirdoes. 

Luka and I just mostly messed around, following old roads, paths, going in abandoned houses, and watching animals. For a while, we just sat in an old field. Luka looked over at me, "Do you ever miss when you were younger, Charles?" She asked me, I thought for a little while, "Not really," I said after a while, "Why not? We didn't have to fight monsters, worry about anything, got to play..." "Hey, shut up, don't live in the past, or the future, live in today." I told her, she always brought up depressing subjects! She quickly got up. "What, what is it?" I said, getting worried, "We have to go, it's getting late" She said in a hurry. I could tell something was up, but I just got up, grabbed my backpack. ANd, we ran to where we were suppsed to meet 'Them'

"Are you okay?" Was the very first thing the leader said not, "How was it?" "What took so long" Or "how have you been" Luka and I both rolled our eyes at him, "We're fine, we fought the monster thingy, got done with it an-" The guy cut me off! "What took so long?" Now he asked one of those questions. Nice. "Well, we were just... Walking around really." Luka answered, before I could speak. How unkind, oh well, she knows I would probably say something stupid. "You two should be more serious, you are probably one of the best fighters, considering your connection is so strong. An-" Before he could say another thing, I interrupted him, "Yeah, yeah. We know, but, we're still only seventeen-" Now I was being cut off! "I'm sixteen though." Luka said, I rolled my eyes at her, she laughed a little, I smiled at her. "You know, you two would probably be a good cou-" The guy started to say, but Luka and I interrupted him, "SHUT UP!" We yelled st him, he laughed at us. "Perfect couple." I started to gag, and Luka looked like she was really going to puke.
