Maeveen Flipped the manilla folder over in her hands, the light in the room bouncing from its cover. Her mind replayed the message sent to her from Alpha Knight's beta only hours ago. The feeling in her chest still lingered annoyingly, prodding at her sense of control. She never was one to accept a bad thing very well when it hit her head on.

The chair across from her groaned, and her head snapped up to meet her weary father's piercing gaze. With a small kindle of hope, which she kept burning, Maeveen looked at her father.

A deep sigh emitted from his chest, as he rubbed the side of his head.

" Talk to me, father. What did they tell you?"

Clasping his calloused hands together, the elder alpha replied;

" Gerard sent word out to all the packs here in Europe, but so far nothing has been reported."

Maeveen let some of the air she held back, go.

" That is a good thing, right?" Maeveen leaned forward.

" For us, Yes. But for the packs in America... Let's just say they are in a bit of trouble. Alpha Greene contacted me last week and gave me a brief summary of what is happening." The older man shook his head disdainfully. " It's not good, Meaveen. We need to be prepared to use plan B if worst comes to worst."

With eyes wide, Maeveen sat back stiffly. Feeling the sensation of a migraine inch its way into her skull. She knew in fact that plan B was never a good thing to be putting on the table this early, unless things were really bad.

" But, surely father, there is a cure for this disease. No one is as foolish to create such a vile thing without a backup plan."

" No, dear. There are such people. Those who are ruthless and have no soul."

Maeveen squinted her eyes and pursed her lips, glancing at her worn face in the reflection of the polished wood table.

" Give me 30 days to try and figure this out... Please."

Her father was a man of honor and integrity. He would do anything to keep his pack and family safe. Shooting needles into Maeveen's core, she didn't back down as her father held a silent battle.

" 30 days, Maeveen. No longer, no less."

Maeveen smiled, and stood, grasping the folders in her arm, she shook her father's hand, and kissed his cheek.

" I won't let you down."

Morgan looked at the watch on her wrist one more time before the door in front of her swung open. She jumped from her seat in the cozy waiting room, and dusted the imaginary pieces of dirt and fuzz from her black pant suit and blazer.

Dr. Ren addressed her with an edge of unease.

"Right this way, Dr. Morgan." He opened the door leading to the operating rooms and offices. Morgan looked at him for a moment and decided against her better judgement. He couldn't fire her, right? There was no reason to, except the fact she operated on an animal. And one of the main rules she vowed not to do was to not preform a surgery like that unless it was needed for a specific research...

Morgan followed her head doctor with a brisk skip in her step. She was nervous to say the least.

Dr. Ren took Morgan into his office and sat down behind the desk. Morgan followed his action and sat with a stiff back, facing the serious looking man. Morgan found it difficult to discern whether or not he was unhappy, due to the fact he always had a serious look on his face. She sometimes wished she could compose herself like he did.

"Do you know why your here, Morgan, In my office right now?" The older doctor leaned forward and gazed upon Morgan with piercing eyes. He was prodding for the truth, like he did with all his patients.

"If I'm being being quite honest sir, no I do not know 'exactly' why I'm here," Morgan replied carefully.

Dr. Ren hummed and sat back.

"But you have a lot of reasons why you could be here, am I right?"

"Yes sir, I do. And I want to apologise for -"

" I'm not looking for an apology," he interrupted. "I'm looking for an explanation. The truth. And I think you know something that I don't!"

Morgan was slightly shaken by his aggression, but she did not let it show. She was dealing with a real profession in which she worked hard to earn.

"I don't have one, Dr. Ren. I can't explain anything out of the ordinary. Mary and I were merely operating on a - dog... hoping to get further research into the virus, Rabies."

Dr. Ren looked curiously at Morgan. He couldn't tell if she was lying or not. He hoped she wasn't, because he and all the other fellow doctors knew she was extremely important to their research and facilities. He decide against pushing the fact too much.

"You say that Mary was involved in this?"

Morgan quickly tried to patch her mistake. The last thing she wanted to do was bring Mary into this.

"No, sir. Not directly, at least. I asked her for some supplies... She brought them to me during the procedure. That's all."

Morgan excelled in the art of holding a semi-decent fake look, but she did not excel in the art of being dishonest.

Morgan counted 23 seconds, before the older man seemed to give up a little on his expedition of knowing exactly what happened. Even if Morgan had told the truth, she was still stuck with no actual explanation of the events that occurred on that wintry night. And she wasn't going to tell anyone, either.

"The hell with it, James! Why is she even getting her nose in this!" Samuel barked. He paced the room like a stalking wolf. In fact, he was starting to feel the urge to kill.

" She only wants to help. Can't you get that into your thick skull and put aside your pride for once?" James saw the opportunity to put his foot down and he did.

Samuel looked at his Beta James sternly.

"She's from that bastard's pack! He waged a war that we barely made it out of!"

"That was six years ago! I think it's time we give her a chance. She wants to help and she's not leaving, besides she had nothing to do with that war."

Samuel took a calming breath and decided against being irresponsible. He knew he had to let go and trust her. He looked at James, who held a respectful glare towards him, and nodded once.

James took that as a "yes" and opened the doors.

In walked a beautiful woman. Her eyes were soft green and her extreme red hair was pulled up into a stylish bun. She wore a pearl collar shirt and fitting pants.

Setting a small envelope on the table, she looked up and smiled at Samuel, offering a hand out.

"Good evening, Alpha Knight. It's a pleasure to finally meet ya. I'm Maeveen." She presented herself, a strong Scottish accent rolling off her tongue.
