Luke Skywalker and a band of X-Wing fighters charged the Death Star, trying to hit the main reactor. If they hit the main reactor, the Death Star would blow up. So Luke, in his fighter into the deadly space station and hit it with everything he had. His fellow fighters followed behind him loyaly and they ended up blowing it up... With a narrow escape.
