02 Years AZ

Lincoln, Nebraska

Two young people ran down the street, past flipped and burnt out rusty cars. A trail of the living dead stumbled, hobbled and ran after them, driven by bloodlust.

Now these young people, was a boy and a girl, barely eighteen years old. They looked nothing alike, the girl with long, blonde and greasy hair, a petit height and hourglass figure, though it couldn't quite be seen under her layer of clothing. The boy was slightly broad shouldered, tall, and he had dark, thick, short hair.

But both were puffed and exhausted, and knew they couldn't fight off the dozens of zombies headed straight towards them as they hadn't have enough ammo, nor energy. Ten Thousand aimed his rifle up, two zombies ran at them from in front, he shot them down instantly.

"Three hundred and fourteen." He huffed.

"You won't reach your goal if we don't find cover from these biters." Seven panted. Ten K nodded,

"This is your hometown right? Know any places?"

"One." She nodded.

"Where?"

Seven grimaced. "You're not going to like it."

"When you said you knew a place I wasn't going to like, I thought maybe a graveyard or a hospital, or a dentists or even the old people home, but your high school was not what I had in mind." Ten Thousand puffed as the two ran through the parking lot, they shut the iron gates behind them and padlocked it shut, knowing fully that if the Zombies were desperate, all they had to do was throw themselves at the fence.

Seven shrugged, "It has hidden weapons. Something we're lacking I might add."

"Hidden weapons?" Ten K repeated. Seven smirked,

"You'll see." They jogged up the front steps and barged through the doors. Once inside, they locked the doors. Seven pressed her back against the doors and sighed in relief, she breathed heavily, and tried to catch her breath.

A zombie growling up the hallway made her second guess her safety. She cursed under her breath and checked her ammo in her Glock. "Two bullets."

Ten Thousand checked his also. "Five. And three in my pocket." Seven pulled the machete out of its sheath in her belt.

"Save the ammo."

He nodded and took his sling shot out. Seven crept forward, down the dark hallway. She looked around the first open doorway of a classroom. It was empty. The zombie continued to growl, it was getting louder as she walked. When Seven walked up to the third classroom, the zombie ran out through the door and lunged at her, knocking her to the ground and sending the machete skidding up the floor.

Seven had her back on the ground, the zombie was on top, chomping down, but only managing to bite the air as Seven struggled to push it back. Ten K aimed his slingshot and fired at it, hitting its head easily. The zombie rolled off her and Seven was able to catch her breath. She stood up and nodded at Ten K in thanks. She then walked forward towards her machete, keeping her eye on it. When she squatted to pick it up a foot stepped on it, keeping it on the ground.

Seven looked up to see a gun pointed at her head, the man holding it, had a black mask over his face. Seven glanced back at Ten Thousand to see his rifle pointed at the invader. Seven's gaze dropped to the ground.

"I can guarantee that he won't miss." She told the stranger.

"Neither will I." The voice was recognisable. To both Seven and Ten K.
