Trina's POV
My head rested on Sakura's shoulder as it had the last four hours, my eyes closed as we traveled towards Cross Academy. Sakura's soft fingers brushed through my silver hair, causing me to enter a cognitive state. I wanted to fall asleep, but if I did, I knew I'd make Sakura feel a little lonely.
Bearing through it, I opened my lavender eyes and sighed. I sat up in the seat, a few strands of my hair falling over my shoulder in reaponse. My body turned facing towards Sakura, who was looking directly at me and watching silently as I crossed my legs in the seat and put my hands between them.
"We should play a game!" I announced happily, a bright smile coming onto my features at the thought of playing with Sakura once again.
Sakura just sighed, looking down at her hands and biting her lip. Her gaze shifted to look out of the window, her hands fiddling with a strand of her brown hair. She didn't reply immediately, only watching as the sun set beyond the horizon, the rolling hills slowly changing into mountainous scenery dotted with dark green forests.
I frowned at the lack of response from her, turning and sitting normally in my seat.
Personally, I should have expected this. I mean, sure we were close when we were younger; practically inseperable! But now, after fifteen years, she's been a bit distant lately and it hurts a bit. Something must be going on. I know some people may think that because we're twins we should have that supernatural connection with each other and know when some thing's wrong with the other. Well, sorry to disappoint, but that's just not how it works. Or, maybe Sakura and I are just different.
Can normal twins really do that?
Shaking my head, I look back over at Sakura. Her gaze is back on her hands and she's fiddling with the ring that resides on her middle finger. It had a silver band with a bright blue topaz on top in the shape of a lily. I had a similar one on a chain wrapped around my neck, but the design the topaz was in looked like a strand of wheat. I still don't know why I chose that one in particular, but when dad had took us to get these when we were seven, this one looked the prettiest, so I got it.
These were our purity rings. Mom and Dad had instructed us that we were to never remove them from our beings until the day our innocence was lost. Once our innocence was taken, we could no longer wear them, because they would be a complete lie after that.
"They're a symbol that you're still our innocent little girls," they had said. They really stressed upon it and I still don't understand why. It's not like Sakura and I were boy crazy or anything. I'm pretty sure that we both have better morals to our body's than that.
"What game could we possibly play in here?" Sakura asked in a whisper, breaking the silence and turning to look over at me. "We don't have any cards and we left all of our board games back at the Manor so we'd have something to do with mother and father when we went back to visit."
"I don't know, but this ride to the academy is so boring I just thought that maybe you'd like to do something other than just sit here and do nothing," I replied.
Sakura sighed, leaning forward in her seat and adressing the chauffer. "How much longer until we reach Cross Academy?"
"We are ten minutes away from the village just outside of the Academy and it won't be much longer 'till we reach the front gate to the grounds."
"Thank you," she replied, turning to look at me with a half smile. "See? We don't have to do anything until we get there. It's not too much farther now, then we can get settled and start our new life, right?"
I turn to look away from her, frowning and fiddling with my finger nails. "Yeah, I guess."
Sakura sighed, unbuckling her seatbelt and shifting in her seat. The next moment, I found her laying all across the seat, her back resting on my legs. I sucked in a surprised breath, coughing as some of my saliva came with the air. Sakura was laughing slightly and sending me a goofy smile.
I glared at her, causing her to laugh a little harder. My glare twitched into a smile and I found myself giggling alongside her. She kicked off her shoes, moving them and wiggling her toes right up against my face. I laughed loudly and began to swat them away, only causing her to try and put her feet in my face even more. When Sakura began to snort with laughter, it took all I had not to die right there as I laughed even harder.
By now my face must have been nearly purple, but right now, even if someone just said the word 'the', I would laugh even harder. I don't understand why that is, but it's just how I am.
Sakura snorted again, causing my laughter to come out so hard that the next laugh was drawn out almost as just a long, breathless squeak before I was finally able to breathe a bit better.
"Oh, god," Sakura panted out in between her laughter. "I love... just how easy it is... to make you happy!"I took some long, deep breaths, trying to calm myself and get the light headed feeling to leave me. After calming enough to speak, I look down at Sakura with the biggest smile.
"Sakura, you're lucky I love you or I'd take advantage of the position your in and tickle you to death."
A knowing smirk came upon her features, the gaze in her eyes challenging me to do just that. "You wouldn't even if you didn't love me," she challenged.
"Try me!" I declared, moving my fingers to her sides and begining to tickle her sides when the car stopped.
"We are here ladies," the chauffer declared, stepping out of the car and moving to the trunk, grabbing our bags from the inside.
Sakura tore my hands from her sides, jumping off of me and quickly putting her shoes back on her feet and charging out of the door. I giggled at her antics and unbuckled my seat belt, stepping out of the car. I watched as Sakura dug into her bag and grabbed a bar of chocolate from it before handing it back to our driver.
As the chocolate entered her mouth, she moaned in delight, melting to the ground and laying there with a content look on her face. Her cheeks were flushed, just as mine probably were from our laughing fit and she looked extremely delighted.
"Is it really that good?" I asked, laughing slightly. She nodded her head.
"I haven't had chocolate in almost five hours and this one right here is the best I've ever eaten," she called out happily.
I giggled at her antics, grabbing one of her hands and helping her to her feet. We both faced the gates of Cross Academy, finally realizing for the first time that we were truly going to start something new in our lives without the guidance of our parents.
Sakura turned to look at me, lacing her fingers in mine. I looked directly at her, the both of us having a determined look in our eyes.
"Alright, let's do this!"
To that, I nodded my head and we walked forwards and into the gates of Cross Academy.
