Four men stand in front of me, each one blindfolded and bound in chains. Of the first two, one has silver hair and dark, bronze skin. The second has bright orange hair and a lanky build. Of hte other two, the first has long, red-maroon hair falling past his shoulders in long strands. The second has very short, cropped hair and multiple scars on his face.
"Gentlemen," I say pleasantly. "Welcome to Hell--both yours and mine." I turn to the guard. "Bring them inside."
The silver-haired creature tilts his head. "A girl?" He murmurs.
I flick his nose. "That's Warden to you. Get used to the sound of my melodious voice, buster. It's all you're going to hear for a while."
He growls and curls his lip, revealing a pair of pearly white fangs. I blink. Nice teeth. The guard pushes them through the door, and I lead them to the maximum vaults.
Kai, as curious as ever, leans up against the bars of his vault and stares at the new arrivals as they shuffle in. His dark eyes fall on the orange-haired thing. "What the hell is that?" He asks. His eyes turn red, and I know he is using his werewolf senses.
I throw him a look. "Kai, watch your mouth." I unlock two empty vaults and gently lead the first two inside while the guard locks up the other two. I close the door but stay nearbye. "Come here," I say to them. "Both of you."
Obediently, the silver-haired one moves forward. I remove the chains from his wrists. The second hears the chains and comes over, holding out his arms. He wants to be released. I undo his cuffs as the first one pulls off his blindfold.
"Hello, Warden," he muses in a soft voice.
"Hi," I say distractedly, frowning as I try to take the chains off of the other two creatures. I glance over at the other vault. My eyes widen, and I stumble backwards, knocking the chair over. Doll-eyes rises to his feet and tries to see into the vault next to him.
I swallow. "Doll-eyes, you might have some competition for the 'Creepiest Eyes Award.'"
The silver-haired creature tilts his head and blinks. Both of the things in that vault have eerie, yellow eyes that follow my every move but never leave my face. It's almost as if they're staring through me while not looking directly at me.
I shudder. "Sheesh." I turn around and notice the glowing eyes of the other two arrivals. The maroon-haired one has eyes that seem to flicker different colors, while the short-haired one has light-purple eyes. All four of the new arrivals are staring at me.
I scowl. "What is it with you monsters and staring? Are you trying to creep me out? Don't answer that." I run my fingers through my hair. "I suppose an introduction is in order. I am the Warden, Noelle. And yes, I'm a girl. The thing hiding in that vault," I point to Leo's vault, "is Leo. Those four are the werewolves, Kris, Kai, Sehun, and Baekhyun."
As an introduction of sorts, a growl rumbles in Kris' chest, and his eyes turn red. I ignore his little show of dominance and point to Doll-eyes. "We call him Doll-eyes."
"I am N," the silver-haired man says. "This is my brother, Ravi."
"I am Draco," The maroon-haired beast says. "This is Seungri." He gestures to the man with cropped hair.
N and Ravi are staring at Leo--or I think they are; I can't see him because he's in the shadows. I bend down and pick up the chair before sitting in it and crossing my arms. "What do you eat?" I ask.
Ravi blinks finally. "What?"
I tilt my head. "I need to know what you guys eat. Believe it or not, we do have meals here. We're not complete savages. In order to provide food for you, though, I need to know what it is that you eat."
"Are you sure you can handle it?" Ravi asks. His voice is deeper than N's.
I snort. "This prison is full of monsters. I've had to deal with everything from aliens to zombies."
"Really? You seem young."
I glower at them. "What is it that you eat?"
"Ravi and I," N says, "drink blood. Human blood."
"Animal blood will have to suffice." I turn to the other two. "What about you?"
They glance at each other. "Human food sustains us."
I blink. "So you're basically just humans with creepy eyes?"
Suddenly, the door slams open. A guard in a white uniform rushes in and stops in front of me. "Warden," he says quickly. "Simmons is gone."
I frown. "What?" Simmons was the guard I had posted in front of Vault 120.
"I went to relieve him, but when I got to the vault, he was gone," the guard says.
I stand up. "Show me," I order.
"Wait!" Doll-eyes says, reaching through the bars and grabs my arm. His stitch-eyes bore directly into mine. "Take me with you."
I shake my head. "No."
"Take me with you," he insists. "Believe me, Noelle. Whatever is inside Vault 120 wants to hurt you a lot more than I do."
"You stay in your cell," I hiss. "It's my job as Warden to protect my soldiers as well as the ones inside the vaults." I pry his hand off my wrist and tug on the guard's sleeve. "Let's go."
Doll-eyes stares after her, even trying to follow, but he can only go so far. "Dammit," he curses.
Kris' eyes turn red. "What's up, Doll-eyes?"
"Not good," Doll-eyes mutters to himself. "Not good at all..."
"What is it?" Kris growls. He's not used to being ignored.
Leo stands up, appearing by the bars. "She shouldn't be going alone," he says in his soft voice. He stares at Doll-eyes. "You have to do it."
N is watching, full of curiosity. "Do what?"
"I know," Doll-eyes huffs. "It'll get me in trouble, though."
"She'll be in more trouble if you let her go alone," Leo says, tilting his head. "You have to do it."
"Fine." Doll-eyes takes a deep breath. He grips the bars in his hands and starts to pull. His muscles strain. The bars groan and start to bend out of shape. A moment later, a gap wide enough for him to go through is formed. He flexes his hands and steps through.
"I'm going to find her," He says.
