Chapter 11: Dread

Hey guys! Thanks for bearing with me. I want these last three chapters to be as powerfully written and emotionally impactful as possible. I also have good news for those that do not know! THE NEWEST EPISODE OF MECH-X4 IS COMING OUT APRIL 17TH. I'm super excited to see how they are going to rescue Mark and get the robot back!... Anyways, the big bad of this chapter is Claw-boon. Hopefully you guys remember him. He's the half primate/ half crab monster with claws capable of shielding missile blast from the episode "Let's Open the Monster Heart!" Harris can't believe what has happened. His brain collapses into complete astonishment as the elevator slowly heads down to the Medbay. He leans against the back wall holding Spyder up by placing his arms beneath his unconscious friends armpits and wrapping his hands around his back. Spyder is leaning forward, his chin on Harris's shoulder, quietly breathing into Harris's ear, and Harris briefly thinks of how uncomfortable Spyder would be if he saw himself being held so tenderly. The funny thought is brief however. Harris can only really focuses on the helplessness of their situation at the moment.

Just as they escape from the two goons they get assaulted by another enemy. Harris never though for a second that of them would be hurt so severely. Yes, they were all electrocuted, Mark was severely beaten, and Ryan was psychologically tortured, but Spyder getting stabbed and bleeding to death in his arms is something he never thought could happen to them. The elevator stops and Harris uses all of his strength to support Spyder and carry him to the bed. He struggles to lift him up to the medical table but once his friend is lying calmly on his stomach he lets in a huge breath.

"Okay, what's next," he says as he examines the blade coming out of Spyder's back. It is not too deep and only seems to be buried a couple inches into his lower back.

"No organs should have been punctured," Harris says to himself. "But will he bleed more if I pull the blade out?"

He reaches down and slightly places his pointer finger on the black handle of the blade. Spyder instantly yells out and violently jerks away from Harris's hand. As soon as his finger leaves the blade Spyder relaxes again and falls back into unconsciousness.

"I'm sorry, buddy," Harris says quietly. "But you're gonna have to hurt a little more in order to live." Harris checks his surroundings for medical supplies and sees a metallic silver cabinet to the left of the bed. He walk over and opens it to see numerous types of medical supplies in a medium sized plastic bin on the first shelf.

"Antibodies... pain relief pills... I need these in liquid form," he says aloud to himself. He looks down at Spyder from where he's standing on the side of the medical table. He knows there is no way he can get Spyder to swallow anything while unconscious. The plastic bin only has pills so he moves over to a second bin to the left. He opens it and to his surprise and relief he sees liquid forms of antibodies and pain medication plus a set of needles. Below the bin on the second shelf is gauze, medical tape, alcohol, peroxide, and many other types of surface level medical supplies.

"Perfect!" he exclaims and grabs the alcohol and multiple gauze padsq. He moves over to the right of the medical table and finds a small stand built into the wall to set the supplies on. A pair of scissors and medical tape are set on top of it. He grabs them and cuts straight up Spyder's blood soaked shirt. Once the blade is free of the sticky cloth he grabs the bottle of alcohol and takes off the cap. His hand shakes at the thought of what he is about to do.

"I'm sorry, buddy."

He slowly begins to pour the alcohol on Spyder's wound and as soon as the first drop seeps into the surface of his skin he wakes up and starts screaming again.
