Tsuruko glanced over from her book‚ silently acknowledging Yukiatsu's arrival.

"Revising hard for the finals I see eh?" The latter joked to which Tsuruko only shook her head.

At the same moment‚ the metro arrived and the teenagers cut short their chat‚ boarding the almost crammed train.

"You seem pretty confident‚" Tsuruko remarked slyly‚ pressing get back against the metallic wall.

"I don't know what you mean by that‚" the brown haired boy shrugged to add a much more dramatic effect.

At that the bespectacled girl raised an eye brown curiously‚"You're walking barehanded Yukiatsu‚" She deadpanned ‚"Either you're planning on acing the exams or you're finally stepping down from your pedestal."

In response‚ Yukiatsu just smirked triumphantly‚"We shall see about that."

The train reached the next stop and more passengers got in the packed train‚ forcing Yukiatsu to press his body against Tsuruko's petite frame‚ trapping her.

"Ah! Sorry‚" he tried to wiggle away but in vain‚"Guess we're stuck..."

An awkward silence followed with occasional peeks between the two.

Yukiatsu could feel the heat coming from Tsuruko and in that cold winter morning, it warmed his frozen heart.

How she looked pretty from so closeup. Her emerald eyes‚ lidded by her thick eyelashes; Her perfect nose; Her silky blue hair framing her cheeks which were rosy pink from the coldness‚ perfectly; And her pink plump lips that looked so tas-

"What the hell is wrong with me?!" Yukiatsu snapped out of his trance. He felt his neck and face burn and he raised a hand to rub his temples‚"I'm going crazy‚ that's sure! Maybe it's the all nighter that I pulled on yesterday that's getting to me?! Yes... That must be it‚" Yukiatsu reassured himself. After all, how would he admit to even himself that he had just been thinking of Tsuruko like that?!

"Yukiatsu? Are you okay..?" Tsuruko tilted her head adorably in concern.

"No‚ I'm fine. Don't you think it's getting hot in here?" The brown haired boy flapped his hands near his fave in an attempt to cool his nerves.

"Are you really fine? It's freezing cold right now‚" Tsuruko touched his forehead to take his temperature.

"You're burning! Why in the world would you choose to come to school in such a condition?!" The blunette gasped.

"No! Finals are next month and you want me to waste a whole day at home‚ remaining idle?" Yukiatsu steadied himself.

The girl sighed in exasperation‚ "Let's get you to the infirmary as soon as we reach school."

He hummed in response and when the metro finally reached their stop‚ Tsuruko helped him out.

"Will you be able to walk all the way to school?" She inquired.

"Do I look that sick?" Yukiatsu scoffed.

"I guess if you have that much energy to thrash talk then you're alright‚" was what she said to his childish answer.

However she still helped him walk by putting his arm over her shoulder, letting Yukiatsu lean on her which he did begrudgingly.

And all throughout the walk, Yukiatsu felt so hot that he almost became light-headed. Key word, almost, because he couldn't help but feel conscious of Tsuruko all along.

Her petite body pressed softly against his side, making him blush several shades darker. And when the wind would blow her hair in her face, she'd tuck in behind her ear the stray strands. Or at times she would push back her spectacles whenever it would slide down her nose-bridge in an oh-so graceful manner. How had he never noticed these small details before was a complete mystery to the brown-haired boy.

Upon reaching their destination‚ Yukiatsu was dropped off at the infirmary while Tsuruko attended homeroom.

After examining him‚ the head nurse reassured him that it was just a slight fever which would go away with some bed rest and advised him to sleep in the infirmary for the first three periods to which Yukiatsu gladly complied to.

He kept on rewinding his thoughts to the earlier events of the day. How badly he had wanted to hold her in his arms. How beautifully perfect she had looked. And what had his heart running a mile was that necklace he had gifted her, adorning her neck, the purplish coloured flower contrasting with her milky white skin.

One could say that he almost felt touched by her golden heart that he had broken more times than he wished he had done so. She was so caring and willing to accept him once more despite all the blank looks and harsh words he had thrown at her.

How could someone be so perfectly imperfect? At that thought, he felt the corners of his lips tug up and soon he was smiling like an idiot.

To Yukiatsu, Tsurumi Chiriko was indeed one in a million.
