The soldier walled down the hall. Blood dripped from his limp arm. The gash from the sword left him with only one had to carry his rifle. Shadows of dead adversaries where cast on the paper walls. In their primitive armor, dispatching them was an easy job.
Leaving the building he saw the machine that had brought him here, it sat in the courtyard of the large castle. He didn't know how it worked, only that he was thrown in it with the mission to stop the nuclear apocalypse. The scientist said it would take him back to the middle of World War Two. He was to convince his nation to surrender and keep the fury of the sun from being unleashed on two of their cities. Now, with his type 89 assault rifle in his left hand, his non-dominate hand. He stood in the middle of a feudal Japanese castle surrounded by dead samurai.
Something went wrong! He was in the wrong time! Samurai where everywhere in this Fortress! When he first came out of the machine three had rushed him. He quickly shot them down and moved into the largest building, shouting for who every was in command! He was continuously attacked. Each encounter ate precious ammunition.
As he moved deeper into the building he came across four women, they were drinking tea and hadn't noticed him. He moved on. The soldier had only taking three steps before he heard it, the rasp of a sword leaving its scabbard! Turning he was struck in the arm by the attacker. He dropped down as the samurai let out a fierce cry and sliced at his head, he missed. The soldier drew his pistol and fired! Blood sprayed his face as the enemy fell. The women came running out, upon seeing him they fled in a panic. He shook his head. If they had attacked they would have easily taken him.
Now he stood at the machine. It failed. HE failed! He hung his head in defeat. Then, he felt a sharp stab in his chest. Looking down he saw an arrow; it had hit just above his armor vest and punched through his thin uniform. Blood started to pour out of the wound, he fell back. All he could see as his life faded, was the face of his small daughter. Looking out at a mushroom cloud, as the shock wave headed for her.
