Desperate to hide from the increasingly fierce winter storm atop the mountain Alaina seeks shelter in a fair-sized cave a tad on the small size and practically passes out as soon as she lays down. The images of the last few weeks searing their way across her eyes as she slept.
Asleep comfortably in her bed she dreamed comfortably about her childhood. This time it's a dream about her mother...
"The year is 8991 humans have long since traversed the galaxy and set up colonies on other planets, as have the inhabitants of those planets on Earth. Humans and alien species of all kinds live fairly peacefully together, most common of the inter-species interactions is with, arguably the most socially similar race to the humans, yet also the most genetically diverse species, the Mythites, from the planer Mythos, a species of humanoid animals, of every species, including some unique ones, that only the mind could imagine, varying in a multitude of color, and pattern; their culture, a near mirror image of the humans. Many Mythites and humans live on each others' world. However after a few decades, the humans became fearful of the Mythites and other alien races, worried they might destroy the humans. Not long after, a war ensued, between the species' as to who is in control of what planet and who owns what lands. It went on for nearly three decades, human-Mythite families were persecuted, it was, the second civil war. As families and friends were torn apart from each other..." The documentary drones on and on. "But mommy why must I learn this, it is so dreadfully boring." a young human girl, with sandy blonde hair and wide, innocent amber eyes, large fennec fox ears and a bushy tail, about six years of age, impatiently says to a short, golden tan fennec with large red plastic-framed glasses a tad too big for her head and a matching fake pearl necklace and a pretty flower-print house dress, her sea-foam green eyes magnified by the lenses in her glasses, and closes her history book, the fennec looks at her daughter kindly "Because Alaina my dear, this was an important part of history, and your daddy was actually a part of the war, to protect us from being segregated and hurt." Alaina looks confused "what's segre- serga- seger-" she sighs and pouts because she can't pronounce the word and her mother giggles softly "segregated. It means treated really badly, like people were treated here and we would have been treated on earth. But that's all over now." her father, a tall human with a fair build average brown hair and amber eyes knocks lightly on the door as he opens it "Hope I'm not interrupting a lesson." he says warmly, stepping in and hugging his wife who stood a mere 5'4" as his daughter giggles and runs up to him "Daddy!" she says jumping up on his leg, her tail swaying happily as he picks her up "how's my little princess doing?" she giggles happily I'm doing great, we learned about separation! back during the war you fought in." Alaina says proudly "hmm, do you mean Segregation little one?" Her father asks softly well that's a very important thing to learn but maybe it would be better suited for when you're older." he says quietly "hey Lana, why don't you go play for awhile? Me and mommy have some grown up business to talk about" she just nods and runs happily out of the room content to run about the mansion while her parents talk, when suddenly someone knocks at the door. "Daddy, uncle Shane's here. He asked if you were here." She says from behind the office door, her father gets up and walks with her skipping gleefully at his side, to reveal a snow-white furred wolf with icy blue hair slicked back and pulled in a ponytail dressed in a black suit, white shirt, and blood red tie, his eyes, the same color as his hair, were striking. "What do you want Shane?" Her father asked threateningly "It's nice to see you too ." Shane says in a cold and flat tone. "I'm here because you were right. Helping them was a bad idea. We need to bring them down." He says staring down at the floor with shame in his eyes. "We don't have much time. Come inside and so help me god Shane if you try anything, I will kill you." her father says as he leads Shane to the study, after a few minutes the two reemerge from the private room. "Alaina, sweetie why don't you get your favorite toys and I'll pack your clothes." He says kissing her head as he grabs her coat and helps her put it on. "But daaaaddy, where am I going?" The little girl whines "don't worry Alaina, you're gonna go to uncle Shane's just like you do for the summer." Alaina yips happily at that news...
