The boy sighed as he draped himself across the arms of his stone throne, eager for this council to be over. Turning his head to the right he saw one of his top knights, Xavier, looking to be sharing his thoughts. The man had changed over the last three years. His hair and beard, which he let grow out, were now a salt and pepper color. He had grown taller and slightly more muscular which showed through his smoky gray tunic. His hand rested on his sword, which was buckled over top of his black greaves, and he looked ready to use it if need be.
"M'lord?.. King Cedric! I need your attention please."
The former assassin blinked and turned his attention to the source of the voice. It had come from a tall lanky man with raven black hair.
"Yes, Avaco? What is it?" Cedric lazily questioned. Avaco was, for a lack of better words, annoying. However he was also in charge of the council of magic and stopped the other members from locking Cedric up, or worse, simply because he was a mage. He let him rule as king, stating that if he went through the trouble and effort of saving Sor'real, he deserves the title more than anyone.
"I was trying to ask your opinion on the recent outbreak of necromancers that have, for unknown reasons, decided to keep attacking Sor'real and it's neighboring towns. What should our next course of action be?"
The boy king tilted his head from side to side, "Hmm. Richard, what do you think we should do?" He asked his royal adviser, who was also the former king.
Richard, who looked the same except now he wore a set of crimson robes, stroked his chin, "Well, I suppose that we could increase all of the town's defenses for starters, such as adding more archers to the towers and constructing more walls. However what would really benefit us is if we could find out why we are getting attacked. Maybe they all have a leader?"
Cedric nodded, "Good thinking as always Richard. You certainly know what you're doing."
"Many thanks, sire."
"Yes, well, is that all?" Cedric directed this to Avaco.
"N-no sir. Fortifying the village is all well and good, but we need a more permanent solution, like what Richard has pointed out. What we need to do is start finding out who controls them and why. What is their reason for attacking our homes?"
"Okay Avaco, sine you're so keen on this what do you suggest? What is your big plan to find out who their leader is?"
"I... I don't know m'lord."
"Then think before you speak next time."
The man bowed his head, "Yes sir. My apologies."
"Still," Cedric sighed. "I suppose we should start finding out who leads them. Although they are little more than a nuisance right now, they could become a bigger threat to us. I'll get started on that soon."
"You, sire?" Avaco raised an eyebrow.
"I mean... my knights." The boy said through clenched teeth.
Ever since becoming king, Cedric felt... restricted. Unlike before, he could no longer go on any adventures as that was not something a 'king' would do. He now spent his days in the castle reading and going over important documents. Also unlike before, he wasn't permitted to wear his assassin clothes. Now, he wore a large, bulky suit of steel platted armor, as a king should have to look 'powerful' in front of his subjects. However one good thing was that they gave him a new sword. Rather, Max forged it for him. It was a silver, almost white, long sword with the blade outlined with a blood red color. The cross shaped hilt was perfect for balance and defense, and the grip was wrapped in a silver cloth, with the pommel being as round as a gold piece. He loved it, and greatly appreciated Max making it for him.
