"Thanks daddy!" I said taking the check from the large man's hands.
"Just figured my Snookiepoo's daughter could have a little something for her twenty-ninth birthday," the man said smiling greatly before sitting in his chair.
I pushed aside the giggle that I got when he called my mother Snookiepoo. Step-dads what you gonna do with them?

"I need this cashes," I told the clerk.
The lady yanked the check out of my hand nearly ripping it. This wasn't my first time dealing with her and I knew she hated me. Tuff luck with her she had to deal with it. If it wasn't for my biological dad she wouldn't have this job, she'd be on the streets in a box.
I shot her a ice cold glare with my peircing light blue eyes. She knew exactly what I was hinting. Her eyes, saggy with age, darted down to her hands. Sorry slipped from her mouth quietly as she mummbled it, carful not to raise her voice.
I softened my stare on her before rolling my eyes. Pheasants. Running my hand through my bleach blonde hair I watched her do whatever it is working people do. Getting quickly bored of that I sighed looking down to examine my freshly done nails. They were perfectly hot pink.
I glanced up to notice the lady was looking at me. She was holding out my envolope of money. Her eyes quickly darted mine when I reached for the envolope. Stiffling a chuckle I grasped the small white envolope putting it in my purse.
Right as I zipped my purse there was a loud noise. It seemed so familar but not. My stomache dropped, my heart skipped a beat. I didn't realize what the noise was at first but, when I did it hit me. It hit me hard. It was a gun shot.
