Chapter 6

"Check it out! Bellamy!" A male voice calls out from the dropship.  I set my map down and stand up before heading out of the dropship. "There!" I look at the male as he points to the sky. My gaze lands on a burning object flying through the sky. "It's an escape pod..." I eye the object curiously. Jones smiles. "They're coming down to help us. Now we can kick some Grounder ass!" The delinquents break into exited cheers. I keep my gaze on the flaming object. Something's off..."It's falling too fast.." I whisper to myself as I squint my eyes at the escape pod. "Something must have deactivated in the escape pod." Octavia says behind me, startling me. "Sorry.." She looks at me with an apologetic smile. I let out a huff. "You're fine O." I say, smiling at her. "My question is, Who is in it?" I exhale and glance back at the sky. 

"If it cleared the ridge than it's probably near the lake." Del says eyeing me and Octavia. I cross my arms and look to my left to see Bellamy walking up to us. "We should get moving." Octavia steps up to her brother. "Everyone's ready." She gestures to the small group we gathered together. "No one's going anywhere. Not while it's dark. It isn't safe. We'll head out at first light; pass the word." Bellamy says before turning away. I uncross my arms and walk in front of him to block his way. "Bellamy. Everyone for miles saw the escape pod comedown. What if the Grounders get to it first? This could be our chance to save the Ark. To save our selves. We need to go now." I look into his eyes. "I said we wait till sunrise, Haven." He says in a harsh tone before walking past me. I clench my jaw and turn to Octavia. "I'll go talk to him." She says softly. I nod and cross my arms as she walks after her brother. What is he up to?

I finish sketching locations onto the map laid out on the desk in the dropship and examine it. "Okaaayy." I smile and slowly stand up. "Looks like everyone's up.." I hear Finn's voice clear over the other voices. I quickly walk out to check on them. "Did you guys see that? You know it's from the Ark, right? It had to be." Fox looks at them after closing the gate door behind them. "Grab your stuff. Let's find out." Clarke says walking forward. "Bellamy said we're gonna wait till sunrise." I say walking up to them. Clarke looks me in the eyes and I instantly know what she's thinking. "Fox. You mind keeping watch with Del?" I ask calmly. Fox shakes her head. "Nah. No problem. I'll go check on him." She smiles sweetly before walking off. I nod towards Clarke before walking towards Bellamy's tent. 

I open the flap to Bellamy's tent and walk in to find Roma and another female sitting beneath the covers. "Jesus." I say shaking my head as Roma covers her upper torso with the fur blanket. "Ever heard of knocking bitch?" Roma snaps. "Quiet Roma." I snap back at her.  Clarke and Finn step into the tent. "Oh, great. It's a free show. Anyone else care to take a..." "Where's Bellamy?" I interrupt her and shift my weight onto my left leg. "He took off a while ago." She says, looking over her nails. A sharp breath escapes my lips. "Thanks Roma.." I sigh before turning to Clarke and Finn. "He went after the escape pod.... Lets go." I say, walking out the tent.

"He told everyone to stay. Whatever's in that thing, he wants it." Clarke says while walking behind me. "It's a radio he wants to take. He's trying everything he can to keep the Ark thinking we're dead.. We need to get there before he does." I say, securing the bandage on my hand.

"This isn't your fault,Clarke." I turn to Clarke who shakes her head in doubt. "I should've known he'd go for that radio." She growls under her breath. "How are you supposed to know something like that?" Finn jumps in. "Because he spent every minute since we landed making sure no one on the Ark finds out we're alive." Clarke looks at Finn. "That doesn't mean you can predict what people are gonna do." Finn says softly as rain begins to softly sprinkle down. "That's exactly what we needed to do." I say, keeping my gaze ahead. "I screwed up. Let myself get distracted.. I can't let it happen again." She breaths while stepping over a fallen tree. "We should split up. Cover more ground... We meet up at the river. I'll go right." I say, pointing in the direction of the river as I slow down to a complete stop. "I agree. I'll check the bottom." Finn says before walking away. "Be careful Finn." I watch as he walks off. Clarke looks at me. I nod to her. She nods in return and walks off towards the river. A shallow breath escapes my lips as I walk forward in my own direction towards the river.
