"I can't fucking believe she called me boo..." I walked with Ethan to last class History. I was so glad he was in every class with me.
He shrugged, "That's batshit insane. Dude, girls dig me and none of them call me boo, it's always babe and baby." I glanced to the side at him.
We walked into class and sat in our seats, me next to him. I was sat right near the window and spent my time staring out, looking at the clouds making artificial shapes in the sky. And for a moment, just one moment, I thought I saw my dad in the clouds.
The class phone went off, Ms. Mendes picked it up, "Hello, Ms. Mendes speaking... I do... of course," she hung up, "Parker you're being dismissed. Have a nice day."
"Thank you." I stood up and grabbed my binders walking out of the class and downstairs to my locker. My binders were placed in my backpack and I slung it over my should, kicking my locker door shut with my foot behind me.
"Dad what?!" I sat with my mom in the hospital waiting room.
She held her breath, "He overworked himself and had a heart attack. He isn't doing too well which is the only reason you're out of school. We don't know when he could pass. This happened yesterday."
I threw an evil stare at her and spoke, "Dad had a heart attack yesterday and you didn't tell me until now? Why didn't you tell me something as important as this is?! Dad makes most of the money and how can you support us working on that shitty computer with that "job" you have now? I'm gonna have to get a job..." I rambled and couldn't stop because of the frustration with my mom and sadness of my dad. The worry of Lilliana and what she'll say if I'm late. My thoughts were racing in my head.
"I don't know Parker... I really don't know what will happen to us if we lost him. I told him not to get any extra hours. The doctor told him of this risk but he never listens." She kept looking at her hands as she spoke. She was just as stressed as I was and neither of us knew what could happen next. Everything was wrong.
I sighed heavily, "It's past time that school ends, and I promise a friend I'd meet them at the mall. I can't disappoint. I'll come right back here afterwards to see if I can get in to see dad. I just need you to drop me off." She nodded and we walked out, my head spinning and spiraling with empty thoughts and stupid remarks.
I saw Lilliana standing in front of the mall with a brown haired girl and blonde haired male. The guy waved and walked off as I got closer. The girl kissed her cheek and Lilliana turned and her eyes brightened when she saw me. She ran up and hugged me and I hugged back, "Where were you boy?"
"Family matter. Something came up. Don't worry about it." I smiled and she took my hand leading me to a car.
"I got a few things so I'm good, if you want a few things we can go in but you don't we're gonna go. That cool with you?" she looked at me. I nodded and she smiled again. We got into the car, me on the passenger side, her in the driver's seat. She started the car and got us moving then took out a bowl with weed in it. I looked straight and glanced over every so often.
She grabbed a lighter quickly and pushed it over toward me, "Want a smoke?"
My eyes widen, "Uh, I don't do pot."
"Oh come on, it's not gonna kill you!" she laughed. I hesitated but took the bowl and lit it. Taking a puff, I immediately coughed. Even with one puff I felt the high start consuming me. It felt different and good.
I kept going, handing it to Lilliana every so often, until it was gone, nothing left in it at all. My vision was a bit off but I felt like nothing could touch me, I was flying.
I sure could get used to this.
