Chapter 13 - The Reckoning

Me and Kali follow closely behind Deucalion as we made our way to the hospital. Deucalion was shocked to say the least when he heard me but honestly I think he was more focused on Julia. Who ever is a threat to him doesn't last long. It's why I choose not to announce mine yet and Julia is smart enough not to tell. The Hale's want them gone so they're on my team. Everyone who knows about me won't tell. But  it amuses how not even the people who know don't seem to understand I'm the biggest threat here. There all too focused on each other to spare me a glance. Something I wasn't expecting but I like it.

Deucalion has a hold of my arm as I guide him toward the hospital. The storm above has grown stronger and the wind was rapidly blowing. It has gotten so bad the electricity is going out around town and now the hospital is evacuating.

Deucalion had sent Ethan and Aiden to fetch Cora who was near death. No one knows what's wrong with her but every clue points to Julia. Deucalion got this idea were we kidnap Cora and hold her hostage and make Derek and his pack capture Julia for us. Not a bad plan I admit. To bad it's aimed at my friends. I know for certain that I won't let the alpha pack hurt Cora. How I'll protect her without the alpha's knowing is a huge problem I'm facing.

I don't have a plan for this. I always think ahead but I didn't see this coming. I'm as good as Derek and his pack right about now. Defenseless. I may need to get there attention off Derek and his pack onto me but there's only one way I can think of and I don't like it. I'll have to go hide under a rock until the eclipse. Let everyone else duke it out and I'll watch from the shadows. I'll be the one who comes out on top. Like always. It may seem cowardly but it's actually pretty good and grantees a longer life expectancy.

By the time we get to the hospital no one is in sight. They evacuated quickly but now the alpha pack has trapped Derek and his little pack in there. I can tell already this is going to be a ruff night.

"Katerina" Deuc addresses me "go find Melissa McCall"

McCall? Like Scott McCall? As in his mother?

"What will you two do?" I ask calmly even though I'm a mess inside.

"Hunt down the Darach and see if it's really Julia" Kali answers. She still didn't believe me. Whatever. She'll she soon enough.

We walk in together at the entrance and down the empty hall. It was so quiet. I expand my hearing all around in hope to hear someone I know. Or where Derek is. Inside I hear frantic footsteps running away from us and by the high heels clicking I know it's Julia.

We round the corner and low and behold there she is. Her back is to us pressing frantically on the elevator button. Deucalion takes the cap off of his cane to reveal an arrowhead. What on earth is he gonna do with that? Next thing I knew he launches it with deadly accuracy. The cane hits beside Julia's head and the arrowhead lodges itself into the wall making is horizontal. Julia looks over her shoulder at us with wide frightened eyes. Oh...that's what he's going to do with it...
