Stay inside, they said. Don't ever leave, they said. Well, my parents. I swear they can sometimes be over protective. Look, yeah I know about humans, and guess what. I'm not a human myself. And there hasn't been a human in these woods in years, so I was sure I was safe. So, what am I ? A neko fairy. They're pretty rare, and apparently I'm the only one in my family who is half neko. I have a sister, and two parents. My parents were leaving for a while, but didn't give me a reason why.
My sister was much younger, so I was going to take care of her for a while. They told me not to leave the tiny small house we lived in, which was inside of a half hollowed bush. Though of course, lil' naive ol' me decided to leave ! Only to check something out.
~
My sister raised her head in both curiosity and fear, her eyes widening. Apparently, we both heard the same thing. A foot step, followed by something unfamiliar. That made a loud 'click' and 'crunch' sound. I pushed open the leaf door, and flew out of the half hollow bush away from the house, to check what it was. The bush was on the outskirts of a very tiny clearing, so I landed right into the middle. It took me by surprise, when I watched a human stumble into the clearing, almost falling. He straightened back up, using metallic crutches. At least I think metal. He had chin length red hair, dark green eyes, a blue jacket with a white shirt under, jeans and converses. He scanned the clearing, and I quickly darted away behind a tree.
He sat there for a few seconds, until I watched his expression change to a more confused one, his eyes fixed on the almost hollow bush. He started to slowly move forward, coming closer. I started to inwardly panic, as I watched him bend down a bit. He let his limp leg lay behind him, as he was on his knees now. Something must've caught his eye, and he might've saw the small house inside. He stuck his fingers into the leaves of the bush, and started to pull it open into a hole.
I flew over as fast as I could, and landed under neath him, almost falling, before I yelled, "No, Stop !!". He heard me, and he looked down, his eyes landing on me. They widened, and he scrambled backwards. "What the hell !?", he cried, a bit further away, with his limp leg in front of him now, and his other leg kept close towards him.
I panicked again, and turned my head from side to side, before stumbling backwards into the bush. "W-wait !", he said softly, and I stared at him through the thin wall of leaves and twigs. He came a bit closer again, but stopped and slouched backwards, a sad expression on his face.
I heard him talking to himself under his breath, so I strained my cat ears back to listen. "Whatever it was, I scared the hell out of it. I didn't mean to..". He looked back up, saying softly, "Please come out. I won't hurt you, I promise.". I really had no choice, he was going to force me out of there for all I know. So I started to slowly shuffled out, my heart racing with anxiety. He looked up, smiling warmly at me.
I started to shuffle closer towards where he was, until I was standing right in front of him. He wrapped his hands around me, bringing me up a bit. When I was just a bit below his face, he stopped, holding me there. He stared at me with wide surprised eyes, and his finger brushed against my side. I flinched, my ears pricking and my tail twitching.
He slowly blinked. "I won't hurt you at all, I promise.", he said, lightly putting a finger on my cheek.
