"Well, are you going to open your eyes Moonkit, or am I going to have to open them for you." My brother Puddlekit meowed impatiently. It hadn't been long since he had opened his, but he was older and I thought it was fair if I got some extra time to myself.
"Maybe, but it's still fun to imagine what you look like. I don't know if I want to see how ugly you really are." I replied and stuck my tongue out. "Oh fine." I finally said. I opened my eyes. Things were blurry but I could see my brother in front of me. He was mostly a blur but I saw him clear enough to know he was a brown tabby.
"So, what's it like?" Puddlekit asked.
"Blurry." I replied.
"Oh, you get used to it, things get a little clearer the more you keep them open." Puddlekit meowed.
I spent the last few days without being able to see anything, and this is awesome. For the next two days I tried not to look too closely at things, I wanted to be able to see things clearly all at once in stead of seeing them little by little. It was four days after me getting my vision that I could see things clearly. And it was three days after I got clear vision that I went to look at the camp. The only problem was that this was at night.
I awoke in the middle of the night and couldn't get back to sleep. I noticed the clarity of my vision and took my first good look around. Puddlekit thought I was being stupid for not looking around for four days but I didn't care. I began looking at the other cats in the nursery. The first cat I see upon turning around was a small dark brown tabby. This was probably Larknight. I noticed her huge swollen belly and remembered she was supposed to have some tom named Pinesap's kits. This was weird, I wonder how that works. I turned around and saw Puddlekit, he is, like I remembered, a brown tabby. And there is Speckleshade, my mother. She's beautiful. She is mainly light brown, some may say golden, with brown spots. I began to look at myself, hoping I would look like this. I was sort of disappointed, but I then noticed that I was also sort of pretty. I'm grey. I wonder where I got that from, Puddlekit is brown, my mother is brown, I guess it's from my father, I think his name is Longstripe. I have darker tabby stripes going down my side's. These are separated by broad spots. I suppose I am almost as pretty as my mother. I started wondering what is outside when I heard my brother meow from behind me.
"What are you doing?" Puddlekit mewed.
"Checking out the camp." I replied.
"Well, I'm coming with you." He meowed back.
"Okay, but be quiet, it would be pretty bad if you woke up Speckleshade." I meowed quietly.
We padded silently out of the nursery. I looked around and was quite happy with what I saw. This was the first time I had seen th whole StormClan camp in my whole life. The thing was my life has only been about half a moon. I gazed around and was becoming more excited with every glance and every scent. I walked around and saw all of the dens I had heard about. There was the High Branch, and beneath it was the leader's den. Then there was the elders den, and the medicine den, and finally the warriors den. I couldn't believe how big the place was. I guess it's easy to assume something's smaller than it is when you don't know what it really looks like.
"Should we go back?" Puddlekit mewed from behind me.
"I guess." I answered, I had just realised how tired I actually was.
As soon as I got back I practically passed out. I fell down onto the ground and was almost instantly asleep.
I wonder how my next day with clear vision will go.
