Readers POV
You held the key in your right hand as your left gripped the strap of your clothes filled back pack. Walking up the stairs of your new apartment building you listened to the sound of your combat boots echoing through the stair well as you entered the floor. Walking past the first four doors you reached your room and pushed the key in, about to turn it before you could see something in your peripheral vision. Looking over to see whatever was staring you caught the stare of a boy in a green hood, standing in his doorway.
"Hello?" You asked as you pulled your key out of the lock and tilted your head.
"Hi! My names Edd, Edd Gould it's a pleasure." The boy named 'Edd' smiled welcoming you to the apartment building, his infectious joyfulness spreading to you causing you to smile.
"(Y/N) (L/N)." The tone of your voice was lighter as Edd looked up at your head, noticing your undercut from the past that was growing out a bit but you just combed it back.
"Nice hair." He joked to which you just laughed running your hand through your short locks as you looked at him.
"Thanks."
"Maybe later you should come by, you could meet the boys." Edd offered with a smile, as you looked at the other doors on the floor wondering if they were occupied by the boys he was talking about,
"Sure." You shrugged honestly only planning on watching tv since the only things you owned from your time in the army were some crappy ripped or dirty clothes that you didn't mind wearing. After saying your goodbyes you turned and unlocked your apartment door heading inside to dump out your clothes and shower. You picked out some ripped skinny jeans, a (favorite band) t shirt that showed some scars on your arm and wrists, with your classic combat boots. Walking next door you knocked on Edd's door and waited for him to answer. Yet instead of him answering a strong chinned boy with orange hair answered looking at you with a confused look.
"May I help you?" His voice was strongly British as Edd peeked his head from behind the orange haired boy.
"Move Matt she's our guest. Come on in (Y/N) ." Matt moved aside letting you in before closing the door behind you two, as Edd led you in his nicely decorated apartment to the couch where a eyeless boy was already occupying. He was slouching with a flask in hand as they were currently watching 'Return of the Insane Zombie Pirates from Hell 8.' Edd was nice enough to sit in between you two so you weren't sitting next to the rude looking boy.
"Hey Tom, this is (Y/N) our new neighbor." Edd stared catching the eyeless ones attention as he turned his head to look at you, his face was of confusion.
"Hello." He drew it out sounding skeptical as he looked down at your arm noticing the large bright scars on your arm motioning to them with the flask hand. "Where are those from?" You looked down examining your scars.
"Oh I was I'm the army, I got these from battle." You stated holding both your arms out for them to stare at them in awe at the scars, asking how you got each one.
...
"I was down in the grass firing at the enemy when suddenly-" You were in the middle of a story when the door busted open revealing someone you knew all too well. Yet now he had various scars on his cheek and a robotic hand sticking out of the sleeve of his red hoodie. The red leader or, Tord Larson, was presumed dead by the leaders and was officially buried but now you were sure the coffin wasn't filled with his body. Your eyes widened a they made contact with his just staring directly at each other for a long time before Edd decided to interrupt.
"Tord, this is (Y/N) our new neighbor." You were confused if you should acknowledge that you know him or if you should act like this was your first time meeting.
"Hello! (Y/N) it's a pleasure to meet you." Tord welcomed you with opened arms as you stood up almost getting into attention since you were used to doing so in his presence. He pulled you in for a hug leaving you to keep your arms at your side. "What am the hell are you doing here (L/N)." He stated his voice low and hushed but still with the same brutality when he led them into battle.
"Is questioning that myself sir." You paused before continuing, "If I knew you were still a-fucking-live I would've steered clear of here.. sir." You finished before Tord released you from the hug putting his hands on your shoulders his face back to his fake smile.
"I hope we can become very close." He emphasized 'very' as he released you you sat down on the end of the couch leaning back. "What were we talking about?"
"(Y/N) was actually telling up some stuff about her." Edd explained as you sat on the couch and looked at him now very nervous about continuing your memory. Yet you continued anyways leaving out the parts about Tord being there even having all of them laughing at some funny PT stories you had. Once the night came to an and you stood up and said your goodbyes walking to the door as you heard Tord's voice behind you.
"I'll walk her out." He stated standing up and walked up behind you putting his arm around your shoulders as he opened the door for you shoving you out before closing the door behind him, to be only you and him in the hallway. "I can't believe you're actually alive."
"I could say the same to you sir." You stated officially as you put your hands behind your back.
"Drop the sir shit, it was always just Tord when we were alone." He waved off your words before letting you continue.
"Si-Tord, everyone thought you were dead after you were shot in an attack." You explained hearing Tord chuckle after you finished making you look at him confused.
"I didn't get fucking shot, those corps will tell you anything to make their leaders go out gloriously." His chuckles were dark, "my robot was shot with a harpoon and exploded, I was lucky to get out alive." He explains holding up his robotic hand and pulling down the sleeve to his elbow joint it still going ever though the sleeve stopped at his elbow. "Tom shot it, I guess I deserved it." He rubbed the back of his head with his robotic arm looking toward the door.
"To be honest, you probably did." You shrugged dropping your arms to your side feeling more casual now. He laughed again, an actual one with no darkness to it.
"Your comments were always the reason I favored you not to mention your skills on the battlefield and in be-" He was smirking as he was about the continue before you punched him in the chest lightly to get him to shut his mouth.
"I'm going to bed, goodnight Tord." You sighed as you waved to him going to your apartment catching him watching you as you closed the door to your apartment leaning on it. This was going to be bad.
