After I had wrapped myself back up the guy got us another round and we both chugged it down. He ended up telling me how his family life was screwed up as well.
I learned that his name was Justin and he has a younger sister whose name was Stacie and she had ended up hooking up with his best friend and had gotten her pregnant and he refuses to care for the baby and told her to get an abortion. She is working on her GED so she can take care of the baby. Now, he has to work double shifts to help pay for things for the baby.
"You know I still have to take you to the alpha, right?"
I looked at him with raised eyebrows.
"The hell? I did nothing wrong. Soon I have to take my mother to the airport so please can you meet me at the airport tomorrow and I will go with you then? I have to look around town for a job as well."
He looked at me weird this time.
"You think you can get a job in this town? You are a vampire. No one is going to hire you."
I looked at him. All my hopes were going down the drain and reality started settling in as well as me also sobering up. It was like fresh iced water being poured on her.
"I guess I have to talk to your Alpha about more than one thing."
"He isn't happy about you being in town. A vampire isn't exactly sitting well with him. He knows what happens, when one comes they all come."
"What do you mean they all come?"
"Your clan, you have a clan right?"
"What? Shit, no I didn't know I am supposed to have a clan. Does that mean I am in that psycho's clan?"
He looked at me and downed another shot.
"I don't know. I guess you will have to talk to the alpha. He knows more about vamps than I do."
I sighed.
"Great, when I already thought I had enough on my plate life decides it's not enough."
"When if rains it pours."
I looked at the bartender and chuckled.
"You can say that again."
I got up from the seat and downed one last shot.
"I'll pay."
I looked at him.
"No, you have a kid you soon have to take care of."
He shook his head.
"You have that rain to take care of."
I laughed and handed the bartender my card.
"Get over it, Justin."
I signed the paper and handed it back to the bartender and he handed me my credit card back.
"Thanks, see you at the airport tomorrow morning Justin."
He nodded his head.
I walked out and walked to the car. I got in and turned the car on. I sat there and just listened to the radio. I sigh and lean my head back and close my eyes. I think of a calm place and nature. Nature always calmed me and eased my thoughts. I put the car in reverse and drove off to the nearest park. I parked my car and walked to the trail. I looked around and noticed the silence. I picked the trail that I figured would take me to a clear view of everything. The mountains on the east coast seem like the nature my soul has been longing for. I take in a deep breath and feel my body relax and feel at home. I see the trail, pinnacle Mountain Trail. I look at the color marker it has and start running. It only takes me about an hour to get to the top. I am slowly getting more energy than I had and I am able to do more things.
Once I get to the top I slowly walk to the edge and sit down. Well, closest to the edge that I can get. I sigh and look at the view. I can see the city, Greenville. I have learned is the biggest around here. I even knew about Greenville all the way in California. I look over to the green areas that is just filled with woods. I sigh and then start to chuckle. How in the world was I able to get here. This place is amazing.
I sat there just relaxed until the sun rose over the hills. I got up and ran back down the mountain. It took me only 40 minutes to get back down. I shaved 20 minutes but I guess running down a hill is much easier than running up.
I jogged to my car once I got to the end of the trail and at one point went to a walk. I got in my car and drove back home. I guess I can call it home now.
