Soft snowflakes descended quietly from the sky. They danced on the wind and landed gently upon the grass. The pure white carpet that they made was illuminated by the glow of blue icicle lights hanging from one porch, and green lights from another. The dancing flakes made their way toward the colorful lights, and spied their reflections in windows. Sometimes children looking through those windows waved to the dancing clusters of icy crystals, smiling.

More snowflakes laced the leafless branches of trees and sleeping, barren earth. They made the world sparkle in the moonlight. Together, the flakes made a charming, slippery mantle of crystals to pack into balls, and slide upon downhill with sleds.

The wind moaned!
