When class was finally over I found my girlfriend in the hallway. "Hey baby" she said as she caressed my arm,"Ash you should come over after school" she grabbed my arm and whispered "Josh what are you doing, you know we aren't like that" I smirked at her "you're my girlfriend so we need to hang out" I kissed her on the cheek and told her to come over at 6:00. The real reason why Ash is coming over is so I can forget about red lips l. At the end of the day I saw red lips at her locker which happened to be across from mine, she was trying to get a drink out of the top of her locker, I reached over and grabbed her drink and then handed it to her and said "here you go red lips" she gave me a faint smile "you're that rude guy from history right?" I just remembered how rude I was in history. "I'm so sorry about earlier I just haven't been in a good mood lately, I'm josh Samuels by the way", "I'm Blair waters" I then smiled back. I wanted to keep talking to her but I needed to stay focused on avoiding her so I just walked away. School ended shortly and I was finally at home waiting for Ash. Finally the doorbell rang, I opened the door and Ashley walked in towards me and started kissing me so fast that it took a few seconds to realize we were kissing. I pushed her off of me "relax Ashley!" I yelled."Ashley, I just want to talk like regular couples" Ashley wouldn't make eye contact with me as she spoke "I don't understand josh, what do you want to talk about?" She asked "I don't know I want you to tell me when you're sad or happy or tell me how your day was, ask me for shoulder rubs" I didn't even know I wanted all of those things and I felt like I would never experience them. Suddenly I was sad because I wanted those things but also really wanted to stay on the football team. I told her I didn't know what I was talking about and to just forget everything I just said. We just watched movies and barely spoke until she had to go home. Once Ashley was gone I went to my mom's room. I put my ear up to the door to try and tell if she was awake. I accidentally opened the door with my head so I backed up slowly. "Joshua is that you?" She asks. I peeked my head in and she got out of bed, took my hand and guided me back into the room, secretly I'm glad she did that...we haven't spent time together since dad passed last year. "Sit" she says so I sit next to her on the bed, "now talk" she tells me while still holding my hand. All of a sudden everything started pouring out of me "Mom I'm not happy with Ashley" my mom takes a moment to think, "well josh if you're not happy in your relationship then you need to decide whether you're going to walk away or try harder"she says"If I walk away I will do bad in my classes and then get kicked off the team" my mom shook her head while holding tightly onto my hand and then said "oh Joshua, nothing... and I mean nothing is worth it if you aren't happy and we will figure out why you are having trouble in your classes later, I want you to always feel comfortable talking to me about these things" I looked down and told her I loved her, I could tell how much that meant to her to hear me say that after all this time. She placed a finger on my chin and raised my head back up until we made eye contacts and she said "I love you too". I smiled and began to walk out, until I remembered something. "Mom, there's a girl but she's not just a normal girl, her name is Blair and she wears plain clothes and has messy hair and wears no makeup except red lipstick, mom she is the most beautiful girl I have ever seen" my mom tells me "your father would have been so proud, it took along time for your father to admire and appreciate the little things that make people unique, hun don't let the fear of being judged, rejected or disliked stop you from making hard choices, this girl sounds very special" "she is" is all I could say.
