I remember reading an old book at the orphanage, it said " I've never regretted anything I've done, I've only regretted the things I didn't do".
Back at the orphanage I didn't get to make any friends. I was told that my parents abandoned me cause I was a good for nothing person who had no worth. I would cry myself to sleep every night, had nowhere to go or even a warm roof over my head. I just wanted my life to end right there and then. I had no worth anyways right?! Sooner or later I'd starve to death with no one ever noticing I was there. Like a shadow that disappears into the night, without ever gaining a second glance. I did the one thing I could do, running far away from the orphanage. As far as my little legs could carry me and find a cliff to jump off of.
*sounds of gun shots in the distance*
Startled Ayumi ran to the source of the gun shots. There she saw an old man with a sword. He was wearing a traditional Japanese kimono and was surrounded by five men wearing all black and covered from head to toe. It didn't take Ayumi a second to realize that it meant danger. But amused as she was for a 10 year old girl she decided to stay and watch the fight.
"We've finally got you cornered" said one of the men in black.
"Is that right"? Said the old guy looking as clam as ever.
Ayumi decided to go closer in order to listened to the conversation better. She ran behind the tree and leaned one of her arms against it.
"That's it we're going to kill you right here and NOW!"
All five men jumped into action towards the old guy ready to kill him as he stood there silently as if he already knew the outcome of the battle. It ended as quickly as it started with only blinking once all five men were on the the floor knocked out cold.
"Sugoi!" Ayumi said to herself as she watched it all go down. I wish I had that kind of power, maybe then I'll be more useful to the people around me, she said to herself as she was still astound of the scene that took place in front of her.
Wouldn't want to mess with him, she thought to herself as she turned back when one of the men in black grabbed her from the the back.
"LET ME GO!!" She screamed as she bit the guys hand in desperate attempt in trying to get away.
"AHHH!!!"why you little tramp, you'll pay for this!".
Ayumi ran through the forest dodging the many trees and branches sticking out getting scratches along the way. As she was running she thought to herself why was she running in the first place, if she wanted to die then she had her chance right there, so she stopped running all together and waited for the guy to catch up.
Once he finally caught up he took a knife out and held it on his hand.
"Do have any last words?!" He said as he walked towards me. With each step he took her heart started to beat faster.
"Why am I shaking in fear of I wanted to die in the first place?" She said to myself.

I closed my eyes and levelled out my breathing. Clutching my fists I was prepared for what was about to happen, but it never came. I opened my my eyes and seen the guy dead right in front of me and the old guy from before was back to. He probably must of heard the screams from back in the forest I thought to myself.
"Going after little girls to try to get to me is the lowest thing you people have ever done". The old man spoke. "Next time come after me instead and face me like a true man" he continued.
"Sumimasen" I interrupted him, "I wanted to die and you ruined my chance at this! You BAKA!" I raised my voice at him.
"What do you mean? Are you saying you wanted to die? Why?"
"yes" I replied back to him. "Because I'm a good for nothing, I don't have any food or money or even a place to stay. I ran way from countless of orphanages and I can't live like this any longer!! I just want to die" I continued with tears streaming down my eyes. My hands fisted at my eyes and my body was shaking uncontrollably.
The old man started to walk towards me and went down with one knee so that we were levelled eye to eye.
"I understand that you've been through a lot, he started. "But life is a precious thing that should be cherished regardless." I know you see the world as a cruel and dark place, but where there's darkened there will always be light, you've just got to look harder".
He then put his hand on top of my head and said the words I've never thought I'd be hearing.
"Come with me, I will show you how beautiful this world is, live with me so and I promise to show you how much you are worth so will never doubt yourself ever again.
At that I've never cried so hard in my entire life. I cried into the arms of the person who made me the happiest girl in the world.
"By the way what's your name?" He asked me
"Ayumi" I answered trying to calm myself down but this was all so overwhelming to me.
"Well Ayumi, my name is Fukuzawa Yukichi, but you can call me whatever you want".
And that was the start of Ayumis new found relationship with Fukuzawa. Which she calls him dad.
