The Host Family Rewritten

Maya always thought school was boring and useless, the only thing she liked in school was art class and history class, she loves art. And she hates history but loves the history teacher.
She was walking to her locked again, the school day was over, she was just there to take her stuff and go to Riley's home with her.
"Grow up Riley" Maya said as she opened her locker, Riley was decorating her locker door with paper butterflies and stickers. "I'm just decorating my locker door plus even if I grow up I'll still love these and I'll still put them on my locker door because it's what I like, wether I'm 3 or 30 I'll always like them, anything else to add ?" Riley asked her best friend, who was desperately trying to understand her. "Nope, I'm done with you" she said closing her locker and starting to walk away. Riley chuckled and followed her best friend.
Once at Riley's home Maya felt in the right place, they were her second family, some of the most important people in her whole life because inside all of them there is this safety she always searched for.
Maya walked over Topanga, Riley's mother and gave her a hug. "Hey Amazon Warrior how was your day ?" Topanga said to Maya as they hugged. " It was great, didn't eat this morning, arrived late in your husband's class and argued with Missy Bi--Bradford" Maya corrected herself and Topanga chuckled.
"MAYAAA!!" Two voices, one sounded happy and the other grumpy. She turned around and saw Auggie, Riley's little brother, running to her. "AUGGIE!!" Maya picked him up and hugged him before let him go. "I missed you!" He cutely said, Maya smiled at him and messed up with his hair "missed you too buddy" she smiled at him. "Wanna get that revenge on a new pirates game ?" Maya asked enthusiastically, Auggie's smile grew and he excitedly exited the living room to go on his room.
Maya lifted her head up and saw Cory looking at her angrily. "What now ?" Maya grunted, annoyed. "It's not the first time you are late for class and your grades are getting lower and lower, you should do something about it" Cory said as he walked up to her. "First of all. It's not my fault if I'm late, the subway came later than usual because an old man was seriously going insane, and second of all, I'm all alone at home, i don't have a mother to give me advices, a father to watch after me or a big brother to help me out in maths and you know it Matthews" she said plopping on the couch, Cory sighted.
"Okay put pay attention in class a little more and maybe you'll get better grades" he said, their conversation was done for the moment so Riley and Maya went to do their homework.
"What do you think my mom is gonna tell me ?" Maya suddenly said while writing her English essay.
"I don't know. Maybe she's finally going to marry Shawn or something.." Riley said putting her book aside.
"Ah, I wish"

"RILEY, MAYA DINNER IS READY" Topanga called the girls a few hours later, Maya and Riley rushed to the table and jumped on their seats, they happily ate together, telling their days and stories, it was a very precious time for Maya, one of her favorites.
Family is something she always wanted to have. But ever since her father left, her mother went to work even more, so now she barely sees her mother, and dinner together are getting even more rare nowadays.

Once dinner was over, Maya and Riley were back on Riley's room. They were watching videos on Riley's laptop when suddenly the bell rings, Maya and Riley stand up and go to the living room, once Topanga opened the door, revealing Katy, with a fake smile, once she greeted with everyone they all sat on the couch except Katy, who was standing and looking at Maya.
"So I got an announcement to do to all of you guys, concerning my daughter Maya, and I really hope you'll understand.." Katy said, stressfully rubbing her tights. "So. Maya.. your father called" Katy quickly said, Maya grabbed Riley's hand and held onto it tightly. "And he wants to talk things out you know, between adults... in New York.. and.." Katy's voice started to crack. "And... I'm not going to be able to keep you with me for all this time.." Riley cut her off "so does it means Maya is going to stay with us ? Is that why you wanted to say it in front of us ?" Riley said excitedly, Katy shook her head. "No Riley...Maya is going to Texas for two months" Katy quickly said and Maya's mouth fell open. Riley has tears streaming down her cheek. "You're going in a host family. I had a talk with this family and they are very happy to receive you with them for those two short months" Katy tried to cheer her daughter up.
"But why ?! Riley is right ! I should stay here! This is like a home for me !" Maya shouted, Topanga confusingly looked at Katy. "Yes and Maya is family to us" she calmly said, is disbelief.
"Of course they are glad to receive me !they are going to kill me in their attic and you won't even know that !" Maya shouted even louder, Riley calmed her down and Maya sat back.
"I know honey. And it's hard for me too, but we have to, I have to, I don't want you to stay that near from me while you're father is there" Katy cried out, but Maya didn't care, she was mad.
"When is it ?!" Maya madly asked. "You are going Monday morning.." Katy quietly answered.
"WHAT ?! But it's Friday ! And you're only telling me right now ?!" Maya stood up and stormed in her room, she locked her door until her mom was going back at her home. Riley came in to find a sleeping Maya, she hugged her best friend and went to sleep as well.
