"Brin! I knew you'd come!" Carter put his arm around my thin shoulders, wearing earth brown swimming shorts. He handed me a Twix bar. "Here. It'll help."
I smiled and ate it, as we walked to the beach. Trix was already there, with Skylar of course. Skylar was trying to get Trix to go in the water, and she refused.
"Trix! It's not that bad!" Skylar whined, standing at the edge of the sand.
"Skylar. I am not, I repeat, not going into the water. I don't want to." Trix, of course, looked beautiful, wearing a one-piece green swimsuit, that went well with her hair. She looked Irish.
"Come on, Brin. Let's go to the diving boards."
Carter led me over to a really tall diving board, so tall I think even Percy Jackson would break his bones if he dove from it.
"Watch!" Carter climbed up the diving board's ladder, and prepared to dive. Then he turned to look at me on the ground, and winked.
He jumped, turning over so he was vertical to the ground. He twisted, spinning in midair. Flipping up, he raised his hands above his head, then flipped down again.
Finally, he shot into the water. He disappeared into the liquid, not making a sound. Not one ripple.
"How?" I looked at him in wonder as he came back up out of the pool. His tanned skin glistened with water droplets, that dripped off in a seductive manner.
"God of Water. Pretty cool, really." Carter put an arm around my shoulders. They were instantly wet. "Want to go see a movie on Friday? Just you and me?"
Before I could reply, he pulled me into the water, instantly freezing my body.
