The car pulls up in front of our school. My side faces the entrance.

I roll down the window and look outside.

The auditorium is at the back side but the strobe of different lights can be seen even here, at the facade. The music is a little bit hard to decipher though. It's like a mumble all the way here. All in all, it somewhat teases passersby to come and take a look of what's happening there. It easily works on me.

I unlock the door and descend the car. "I'm going in now."

"And you call that not wanting to attend the prom? Oh my god. . ." Says Amour as she is retouching her face with a compact powder.

I ignore her and I shut the door without making any sound.

I walk straight to the entrance and I can see that the inside is poorly lighted. The hallways are almost desolated too, just few faculty members are walking back and forth. Maybe these are the ones who have nothing to do with the prom.

"Wait up!" I hear a shout from my back. "Wait!"

I do a quarter turn and I see Amour running and catching her breath because of her big gown. "Hurry up, will you!" I shout back.

"Oh my! Wait!" She shouts again.

I roll my eyes, "What else do you think I'm doing?" I rhetorically asks as I am standing still by the entrance.

She finally made it. Catching one breath and losing the other. She then magnificently wipes her tears. "Now, let's go. Let's make this happen!" She states with all confidence. "Okay?"

I nod.

She puts a space between my right arm and my body. Then she slides her left arm inside the space. "Time to walk like royalties!" She shouts.

By then, we start walking all the way to the auditorium. It's quite a long walk. But alas! we reach the foot of thw auditorium where the music is really, really loud now. I think they're playing Maroon 5.

I step back.

"What now? You can't go back now." She strongly utters, forcing me to go to the main door.

The entrance is guarded by the school sentry. Filtering those who will enter and who will go out.

"Hiiii!!" Amour's shrill voice.

"Good evening, ma'am. . . sir" His greetings, "You're an hour late. Everybody's already jiving inside. But don't worry the night is still young. Enjoy!" He adds.

"Oh? We will. Thank you! You are so nice."
He smiles and I smile back.

"Okay, you can come in now." The guard opens up the door.

The auditorium is filled with people all dressed up to their best. They are scattered around twirling, chatting, cuddling and anything else you will see in a prom night. But they do have something in common, they are all wearing fancy masks. I can't see anyone that I know.

"Uhmm . . why are there wearing masks?" I curiously ask Amour.

"Well, duuuuhhh!! Cause this is a masquerade ball. Where are you when it was announced?" Amour sarcastically answers.

I put my lips closer to her ear and whisper softly, "Should we be wearing masks?"

"Nope!" She confidently says.

I give her a puzzled look. This prom thing is really hard to go through.

"We are too per-fect to cover our faces, is that clear?" She looks at me with her flirty side.
