I step into the kitchen and the fragrance of lemon tarts hits me full in the face. I see Catherine sitting protectively near the tarts and Cheshire's smile floating next to her head.

I walk in and sit on a stool next to the table.

Cheshire notices me first. "Here's your first customer Lady Catherine."

Cath looks over at me and grins. "Sarah perfect timing." She turns and shows me the three lemon tarts. "Don't you think they're just perfect?"

I stare at them, judging their size, shape, smell, and color. I point the one the left and say, "This one is bit too brown on the edge of the crust at two o'clock." I point to the middle one, "This one sinks in too much on the side at eight to one o'clock." I point to the last one, "And this one isn't round enough." I take a sniff and smile, "Although they all do smell very delicious."

Cath seems satisfied with my last statement, and tries to look at the tarts from my angle. "You're so precise Sarah, even I can't see that much."

I put my hands on my hips proudly. "If we're going to have a bakery we must have every sweet precise and perfect."

Cheshire's face appears again, this time above my head. He frowns, "You two are still going on about your bakery?"

Cath nods, "We are going to have the best bakery in all of Hearts. You just wait and see."

I smile at Cath's enthusiasm. "Don't forget Mary Ann, she's also with us."

Cath looks at me. "Of course I wouldn't forget Mary Ann."

Cheshire coughs.

Cath glares at him. "Tuna bone caught in your throat Cheshire?"

Cheshire huffs, "I'm sorry to interrupt ladies but your mother is looking for you."

"What for? We've been here all morning."

I suddenly remember, "Oh Cath the ball! We have to get ready for the ball!"

Cath eyes widen and she rushes off. I start to follow but then I turn and glare at Cheshire. "Don't you even think of touching those tarts."

Cheshire crosses his paws over his heart. "I wouldn't dare. After all I still have to get the tuna bone out of my throat."

Then he fades and the last thing is to disappear is his toothy smile.
